Question for Pokemon Ruby

Hi there I have a couple of questions.
1. How do you get surf because I keep going to wally then the house next to the peatulberg gym and then he just says I wonder how wally is doing?
2.Does anyone know any xploder codes I've tried action replay and gameshark they don't work.

1) Defeat your father in Petalburg gym.

2) They do work, maybe you're not entering them correctly or have the wrong ones.

1 make sure you have beaten the gym and talk to both people
2 I don't know any but go to google and type xploder codes

1) Once you defeat your father at the 5th gym, go to the house on the left and there you obtain Surf.
2) Of course you need the Xploder Codes for it to even work.
