First of all, did you choose a fire ype Pokemon to begin with,if not,then go to the cave with the twinkles inside it(the other way into the grass with ash in it(not the trainer ash) and start looking in that cave for torkoal(or however you spell it). Secondly,no you cannot duplicate items in the newer games only in the red,yellow,blue,gold,and crystal versions.

Try trading from fire red to get growlith he is a go fire type pokemon.

A fire type Pokemon is good for Skamory, like Blaziken, Slugma, or Moltres. Any fire type is good. Even Torkoal is good cause it has a good defense. I'm not sure you can duplicate items.

Try using a strong fire Pokemon around the same level, for example Torkoal.

Fire is very super effective against steel. So catch a torkoal (firy path) and train it up to a high level and teach it good fire moves. You should have no problems.

Yes fire is good against skarmory,try electric attacks aswell. I have never seen a way to duplicate items, so probably not. If you want to find a good fire Pokemon, use your pokedex, and find out where decent ones are. Thats what I would do.

No, You cannot duplicate items, but if you could find a good fire Pokemon you could easily defeat the trainer. A Torkoal would do fine.
