Help I'm stuck. I'm on the fifth badge and I need to travel across the sea but I don't have the hm surf how do I get it?

You get HM sutf when you beat your dad he tells you to get to wally's house in Petalburg. Talk to his grandfather and he gives it to you.
You don't need surf do get the 5th badge,just go see your dad because he is the gym leader.

Surf is found in the Safari Zone. It's in there pretty deep, so keep looking and go to places you've haven't explored yet.
Oh, my mistake. I thought I was submitting in Pok'emon Leaf Green. Turns out it's Ruby.
For my correction, Surf is obtained after you defeat Norman, and then you have to go to Wally's Parents' house and they will hand over HM03 as a gift.
Go to the house on the right side of the 5th Gym, Ain't hard to find.
