Question for Pokemon Ruby

Hey guys I have a question
I traded a charizard to my ruby from my friends sapphire game but it didnt appear in my pokedex
Is this supposed to happen?

It didn't appear on your pokedex because you are in the hoenn region and charizard is a Pokemon from Kanto so doesn't go on your pokedex

It wont appear in the first pokedex 'cause it's not in it, but it'll appear in the national pokedex.

Ok, well first unless both of you have Action Replay, it wont show up, or you have a screwed up game. It isnt supposed to happen, maybe your friend has a screwed up game. Tell him or her to get an action replay.

Yes, that's natural. The only way to trigger a National Pok�dex in Ruby and Sapphire is to trade a non-Hoenn Pok�mon from Fire Red, Leaf Green, or Emerald, and until then you won't have an entry for Charizard.
