Question for Pokemon Ruby

I just beat Flanery and won the Heat Badge now from there I don't know where to go. How can I get to the next city. Thanks to anyone that can help.

You have to get to Petalburg (where your dad is) but you have to go the long way. Go up to Fallabor (up the top of the map) then go through meteor caves, go down to Rustboro then go down, back through the woods, and along to petalburg and fight the gym leader.

You need to go back to Petalburg and beat your Dad.
