For that locked door, you must connect your game when it is in Mystery Events to another GBA with an E-Reader in in, and then take the Battle Card you received in the game package and swipe it through the E-Reader. Then, go to the house with the locked door in Mossdeep and the man will be standing in front of it. He will ask you whether you want to battle the trainer in the room behind the door, who happens to be the trainer on your Battle Card.

As for Dig, you must obtain it from the little kid in the main room of the Fossil Maniac's house.
