I asked the question about how Golbat evolves into Crobat so I'm going to update it because,
how do you evolve it without trading or growing it's levels?

It can evolve at any level, it just depends how you treat and if has a lot of friendship, go to one of the houses in Verdanturf I think and talk to a girl and shell say how much your friendship is with Golbat (he has to be the first in your party)

Golbat evolves into Crobat when it loves you so much. To check it's love for you, go to Verdanturf town and talk to the lady inside the house to the left of Wanda's house.
(Note: This evolution is also the same for the togepi-togetic and the chansey-blissey evolution!)

If you can't trade just train with golbat alot. Give him lots of items like potion or antidote to keep him or her healthy and living.
Try to keep golbat from fainting to make it easier to evolve. This will get him to like you more and more until he evolves.
