Question for Pokemon Ruby

I had to go into the cave with the rare pokemon and then dueled megma, and beat them and then fought the rare pokemon, and then when his life was low I couldn't capture him for some reason so I killed him.

What can I do to find it again, I cant find it in any of the caves either.

If you're talking about the rare pokemon groundon you can only fight him once, if you wan't him you must restart your game.

Well unless someone trades it two you (yeah right) or you have an action replay you'll have to restart the game unless you didn't save after you killed him.
