Buddy, just catch the 3 legendary birds, then train them in victory cave. They will get tougher much faster that way.

OK, some good Pokemon are Raichu (evolve with a Thunderstone), Golem, Mewtwo (trade with somebody, since normally you can't catch it until after you beat the game), and Dragonite. Raichu is good against Lorelei, Mewtwo is good against Bruno and Agatha, and Dragonite and your Articuno should be good against Lance. As for your rival, the champion, there is no single Pokemon that can beat him, since he has mixed types of Pokemon.

I would say the dragonite would be one of the best ones cause I lost alot till I caught a dratini and trained it. P.S. You can catch dragonair in the safari zone with super rod by the first water when you want in the door.
