How do I get Pichu to evolve in Leafgreen?

I have it at level 30 and I read something about it needing happiness from this site, but I don't understand what it means. So how do I make Pichu evolve from happiness?

To make Pichu evolve, you must make it very friendly with you by using it in battles, giving it stat boosting items(not including Rare Candies), giving it berries, or restoring it when defeated in battle. I think thats how you do it. Hope this helps you out.

Give him (or her) lots of protein, calcium, ect. Don't let him faint in battle either. This make him like you more.

Once he gets to a certain level of liking you, he'll evolve into Pikachu.

You got to make sure he nevers faints and give him stuff like calcium. To raise his happiness.

bring to many battles (level up) and keep it alive with berries DO NOT LET IT FAINT.
