Stop using Charizard to try and beat her... She's a water-type gym-leader. Water puts out fire... Charizard is a fire type. And paras is a grass/bug type, bug isn't so great for this trainer, but teach paras some great grass moves and use them in the gym against all the trainers there. Get some grass Pokemon and electric Pokemon which are good and strong against water pokemon... But really don't go in there with any fire, ground or rock types, they are no good against water type pokemon.

If you get your paras up to level 24... It will evolve into a parasect... Battle it against water Pokemon or other grass Pokemon (using bug moves as they are strong against grass pokemon)

Really, to use a fire type against misty, it would have to be up around level 30 or 40 not to take too much damage from her water attacks. I'm surprised you have a charizard so early in the game... Did you trade it in? If it's been traded into your game, then it's level might be too high... If you don't have enough gym badges, pokmeon of higher levels won't obey you, because they don't respect you... They will ignore you in battle or they will use whatever moves they want to in battle, or they will just decide not to move at all!

If you have any grass Pokemon, train them up in favour of Charizard.

You could try to find a pikachu in Viridian forest. They are there. If you have one, it will be your best bet at beating misty!

Good luck!

DNL answered:

Try to get and use as much Rare Candies as possible, or you could train 'em more.

PhilXZ answered:

Rare Candies and fights do the trick.

cheating-is-good answered:

Train by battling the trainers on the bridge, which is above Misty's gym. Then battle the trainers on the way to Bill's house. Then go down to Vermillion city, and battle the trainers on the grass, and in the boat.

Shadowhawk3D answered:

To defeat Misty, you need to have a GRASS-TYPE Pokemon or just level up to a level your good with, also: USE POTIONS IN CASE OF EMERGENCY!Good luck.

dyoung15 answered:

The best way is to just keep battling misty.

~Pokeboy_ answered:

Maybe you should get caterpie and weedle and train them to level 15 or so on..

grim-r answered:

Don't train up the charzaRD to fight misty level up you paris I think lv 24 it will evolve to paresect and might make it easeier to beat misty

Dragonite_Dude answered:

If you have a Charizard that you imported in from another game it has to be less than lvl 30 I think or you are doomed because it wont respond otherwise.Try to find a way to get a pickachu or simply restart the game to learn from you mistakes(its a bummer if you have to do that:( )or you couldoption keep battling her till you get some lucky criticals, or even better go catch a bellsprout north of nugget bridge.
