5. Street Fighter 5

Of the seemingly endless sequels, prequels, remakes, and re-adaptations of video game franchises over the years, very few have been as reused and refined than Street Fighter, and that is not necessarily a bad thing. This new adaptation features a storyline mode with a thoughtful plot aimed at including each of the 16 classic character's backstory, in addition to the 4 new characters. Throughout the campaign, an ancient Aztec fighting God by the name of Necalli appears to fight for the souls of combatants, in true Mortal Kombat fashion. Characters are interwoven into the plot in a smart manner that does not feel forced and provides for a fluid and organic feeling storyline. For a fighting game, we are impressed with the direction it took. Multiplayer action is where this game truly shines, however. PS4 players are able to play cross-platform with PC users and Linux users, alike. One of the first in any such industry to offer successful cross-platform multiplayer gaming. At the time of writing this article, there has been the addition of a new downloadable content package featuring a new arena and new costumes. The money generated from the DLC package will be going to fund the top prize in the Capcom Pro Tour prize pool which is always exciting when developers hold prized contests based on their games.
