Top 10 Best Games of 2014

5. Wolfenstein: The New Order

I spoke highly of this game already on my Top 10 Christmas Presents list and all the reasons I said this game would make for a good Christmas gift also apply to why it was one of the best games of 2014. There is no multiplayer in The New Order. I like that. This means that the developer spent all their time and effort into making the single player campaign the absolute best it could be. Single player campaigns have largely been an afterthought for FPS games in recent years despite the fact that there are still lots of FPS fans who play them.

Wolfenstein is another old franchise whose reputation has been somewhat sullied in thanks to a bad game released in 2009. The New Order remedies that situation and you will not be disappointed with it. The game's campaign is just pure fun. The game reminds me a lot of an old school first-person shooter from the 90's.

The storyline is crazy and the guns are powerful. The Nazis won the race to build an atomic bomb and ended up winning World War II because of it. Now they have the entire world in their clutches. It's up to you, a stereotypical hero, to stop them. Basically it's your classic battle of good versus evil. Being that there is no multiplayer, the campaign is longer than most other FPS games and clocks in at anywhere from between 12 to 15 hours. You'll probably want to play through it more than once, though.

The nostalgia factor adds just enough bonus points in The New Order's favor to help it crack this year's top five.
