04. BioShock Infinite (Irrational Games)

March 2013 - PC, OSX, PS3, X360

One of the most anticipated games of the 2013 game season, BioShock Infinite enjoys status as the darling of E3, and the focus of massive amounts of rumor and fears - but in the end, it worked out to be perhaps the most interesting game in the series yet. Also the most confusing...

The game is a first-person shooter set in 1912, and has the player taking on the role of a former Pinkerton Agent by the name of Booker DeWitt, who has been dispatched to the flying city of Columbia on a rescue mission.

You see a young girl named Elizabeth is being held prisoner by the whack-job who created the city, and she needs saving - or at least that is what Booker has been told.

In the process of assisting Elizabeth to have her escape, the pair forms a powerful bond - and thanks in no small part to her special abilities to control the world and reality - in small snippits - they fight their way out of the city on an epic adventure that cleanly secured the Number Four Slot for this feature!

While it may very well be the most confusing entry in the series, it is also one of the most insightful and addictive. The good news is that that initial confusion? Yeah, by the second play-through (and you will WANT to play the game twice at least if not more), most of your confusion will melt away and you may very well find yourself slapping your forehead and saying: “Oh! That's what they meant!”

If you have yet to devour BioShock Infinite consider this a hearty recommendation that you do so, and soon!
