2. Icarus Proudbottom Teaches Typing

Remember Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing, or any of its many edutainment variants? Those games stressed the importance of posture and proper hand placement as you slowly typed asdf jkl; over and over and over… and eventually got to string together words like 'add' and 'jill'. If you did well enough to get past these repetitive lessons, you'd be treated to a mini-game testing your typing skills against a clock. Exhilarating stuff.

Nowadays, with the era of the Internet and social media, such edutainment titles aren't really needed anymore; after all, most fourth graders probably can type at speeds that would put the average 20-something to shame. But that doesn't mean there isn't room for a nostalgia packed trip with some twists in it, and that's where Icarus Proudbottom Teaches Typing comes in.

What starts as an overwrought, sickingly sweet title having you type simple words and sentences to a simple timer with plenty of errors allowed slowly turns more sinister, as you learn of what exactly you signed when you started this adventure. Never sign paperwork without reading it first!

Of course, the game does teach you to get better at typing, and some of the last stages are truly difficult, even if you spend all day every day in front of a computer. I mean, when's the last time you've had to type out long strings of DOS commands and symbols? So, you get some nice practice and an enjoyable time… in other words, which any edutainment title should actually be.
