Top 10 Free Indie Games

Are you bored? Do you need something to pass the time, but don't have any cash to supplement this need? Well, the indie scene has got you covered. Many indie developers are making new games every day, and a lot of these games release for the low, low price of free. That's right, aspiring game developers are always creating new experiences for the public to enjoy, and not charging a cent for these labors of love.

That said, that doesn't mean every free indie title is worth your time. There are some serious stinkers out there, and despite them being free, there's little worse than wasting your precious free time. Don't worry too much, though: Here are ten free indie titles that you'll be sure to enjoy.

10. Nitronic Rush

It can be difficult to find good arcade racers nowadays. Racing titles of recent years usually feel into one of two categories: Either hyper-realistic gamers like Gran Turismo that focus on exact stats and realistic car physics, or kart racers like Mario Kart and its kin which throw any shred of realism out the window for a more fun, less skill based type of racer.

Gone are the days of wacky, outrageous racers like California Rush and Cruisin' USA, which combined the two to make an experience perfect for the arcades. Thankfully, students at DigiPen seemed to have remembered those days of arcade racers, and created Nitronic Rush.

A small admittance, first, though: This game isn't technically a racer as we normally would view it, namely because you don't race other cars. The creators instead labeled it as a 'survival driving' game, as the point is to dodge the numerous obstacles that will litter the neon lit track and rack up a high score while doing so. It makes for a very fun time, and though it might not be the exact same as those arcade racers of yesteryear, it definitely captures that same spirit while offering a unique experience.

You can download Nitronic Rush from here: http://nitronic-rush.com/ Be warned, however, that this title is pretty graphics and action intensive, so you need at least a semi-decent computer to run it appropriately.
