1. The Prepper Pad
This is actually the most important item in the game, for obvious reasons. It gets Upgrades later in the game as well.
Early on we have the scanning and map functions to the tablet. You can scan the CCTV junction boxes and they will add the visual tablet map of the area to your b.o.b.
You can also scan enemies for LOOT, as well as any containers. Doors and animals can also be scanned early on. We will get into the Upgrades a bit further below.
2. The Hammer
You get this one early on as well. It will let you remove barricades. Specifically wood barricades, this will help you progress through more areas of the game.
Also note once you get this item, you have it for good even if you die. It will pass on to the next survivor and the next like all "TOOL" items. It will only be gone after you complete the game.
You can also barricade a door with this item if you have planks. Planks are wooden beams found as loot through out the game.
3. Lockpick
Unlike most recent games, your lockpick skill does NOT increase with level. Despite the sadness, it has a very unique way of picking the lock, similar to games like FALLOUT3 and SKYRIM.
With the latter being said, the major difference is that TIME will be going by while you lockpick. Basically this means you can die if your not careful.
Be sure to have cleared out an area before lockpicking. This is easier said then done by the way. Escaping to Brick Lane Flats comes to mind. Especially if you just died with No ammo and a horde of zombies. Well you get the idea.
4. Prepper Pad Hack
This is an upgrade you get through out the story mode. Once you have this you can hack the doors that need electronic keys to open.
Hacking takes some time. I would be prepared before hacking a door. Clear out the area and check your radar to make sure you are safe for the moment at least.
5.Prepper Pad Decipher
The Decipher lets you translate the raven's of dee coding which is found on walls.
Use the decipher with your prepper pad. Whenever you see a door that says enter code, with a keypad on it, it usually can be decipherd. Somewhere nearby should be some markings to decipher.
Sometimes you must be at a certain angle to get the code. This can be difficult.
Most of the time a message indictor will pop up telling you a number. For example XX67. This means the other 2 numbers are somewhere else, while 67 are the last two code numbers.
I found one instance where this was non applicable. Which was in Buckingham Palace kitchen area. I had to scan at an angle so I could see the code off the walls. It did NOT give me a message, this is just a warning as some other areas may apply to this rule.
6. Virucide Shot
This is a highly original piece of equipment, even though rather cliche' with it's story background. Like I said original gameplay aspect with an awesome scene everytime it is used.
This is picked up from the royal doctor. You may have noticed while playing you can be bit by zombies. This results in instant death or infection. This means the game is over.
With the virucide shot, right before a Zombie goes in for the bite, you have a chance to use this. Press the ZR button when it prompts. It will have the survivor or protagonist, inject the virucide shot straight into the neck of the infected. This will Kill the infected, leaving it lootable. As well it saves your life.
You can refill it off of POSITIVE virucide infected zombies. Just scan them to see if they are positive. Or when you go near thier bodies the option to fill the virucide needle will pop up.
Once again uber cool piece of gameplay.
7. Spray Can
This will allow the player, to leave other players messages. Write on walls, send messages or leave hints.
