How to Unlock Chapter 1 Alternate Level

To unlock the alternate levels in Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair you simply need to solve a puzzle which can be found in the environment nearby. The alternate level for Chapter 1 however is different, check out our How to Unlock Chapter 1 Alternate Level guide to find out how to access this hidden secret level.

To make this alternate level appear you must first progress in the game so you reach the beach area which is behind the final Paywall (all the previous Paywalls must be unlocked). Once you have done this go down to the beach and search the lower corner of the water for the cave entrance. There you will find a fisherman frog who will be guarding the entrance. Talk to this NPC so that he leaves and then enter the cave. You will discover that the cave is actually a Pirate Cove where you will find some Tonics and a path back to Yookah-Laylee's secret base at the start of the game. Keep heading upwards until you get to the cannon NPC, who you need to ask to turn around so you can attack him to knock down the bridge to give you a shortcut to the very start of the game.

From here go to Chapter 1 where you will now see the fisherman frog above the chapter. Talking to him from below will not do anything, you need to climb up and talk to him from the ledge he is sitting on. Once you do this the alternate level of Chapter 1 will appear.
