8 Fighting Tips

Thank you for printing this page from Remember to come back to check for updates to this guide and much more content for Yakuza 6

If you don't already know this, you must raise Kiryu's Stats with the EXP your earn throughout the Main Story in order become a better Fighter. However, that's only the first step in becoming a skilled technician, one that will ultimately be able to defeat all the Boss Battles found through the game. In order to become a fighting master, you will also have to learn the art of fighting as a whole as it pertains to the Yakuza Series. If you're looking to do this very thing, check out our best fighting tips below! With these, you will become a fighting pro in no time at all!

Top 8 Fighting Tips

1) Always finish fights as quickly as possible. You receive no extra reward for making a match last longer, so there is literally no need to drag out a fight. Defeat your enemies as quickly as possible; don't hold back.

2) Don't save your Heat Gauge for later fights. All fights are important, not just Boss Battles, so don't save your Heat Gauge just for them. Plus, your Heat Gauge recharges pretty darn quick, giving you even more incentive to using it whether you have it available to you.

3) Use Combos. Combos are great for dealing loads of damage and breaking through your enemies defenses. Square + Triangle + Triangle is one of the best and most used combos found in the game, but you can achieve any combo by hitting Square one, two, three or four times in a row followed by hitting Triangle twice.

4) Use improvised weapons around you. While in a fight, Kiryu can pick up a number of items that surround him, including chairs, pots, signs, cones and even bicycles. You can use these to cause further damage to those you are fighting against.

5) Be prepared to be outnumbered. In most fights, you will be going it solo against a number of enemies. Be mindful of that when going into a fight, as your enemies will love to gang up on you.

6) Take enemies out one by one. Since you will usually be outnumbered in fights, try to knock out each enemy one by one. This might be hard to since they will all be coming at Kiryu at once, but it will help even things out in order to improve your odds.

7) Take out enemies with weapons first. If any of the enemies you are fighting have a weapon such as a sword or gun, stick to defeating that foe first. These enemies usually cause more damage than the others, plus you will be able to pick up their weapon to use after knocking them out.

8) Try to cause splash damage when you are outnumbered. Kiryu actually has a battle Skills that will add damage to nearby foes when you are attacking just one of them. This is a great way to cause damage to other enemies while focusing on one of them, so try to unlock and use this skill as much as humanly possible. Also, don't be afraid to throw one of your enemies into their friends to cause massive damage to all of them!
