[*01] \ - Introduction -
--------\=====================================================================

Guns, explosions, mech battles, giant insects. Lost Planet has it all, and
more. You take on the role of a snow pirate named Wayne, who oddly enough, can
only remember his name. Huh, well how about that, but that's enough about
Wayne. This guide contains a step by step walkthrough for the entire campaign,
as well as strategies for all of the bosses that you will encounter along the
way. The campaign walkthrough was written based on the NORMAL difficulty
level. If you are playing the game on a difficulty other than normal, you can
still use the strategies contained within this guide, but the target mark
locations described ONLY apply if you are playing the game on normal. This
guide contains ALL of the target marks for the normal difficulty level.

I have implemented a search system that I highly suggest you utilize. It is
very simple to use and it will make your time navigating this guide a whole
lot easier. To use it, simply press [Ctrl]+[F] to bring up the Find menu. Use
the table of contents and type in the corresponding code for the section that
you want to jump to. I suggest that you do not read too far ahead, as this
guide does CONTAIN MAJOR SPOILERS! I hope you can find the answers you are
looking for... now on to the FAQ!

Machine -> Standard weapon. Offers a fast rate of fire with reasonable
Gun damage.

Rifle -> Your run of the mill sniper rifle. Press up or down on the d-pad to
call up the scope. Can zoom in twice. Takes two body shots to kill
an enemy, or one shot to the head to kill.

Useful when fighting an akrid that has a specific weak point.

Rocket -> A powerful explosive weapon. Good against groups of small akrid as
Launcher Well as larger ones. Can be used to effectively take out enemy VS
           as well.

Energy -> Requires T-ENG to use. Shoots a ball of energy that homes in on
Gun enemies to a certain extent. Hold the RT button to charge, release
           to fire.

Plasma -> Requires T-ENG to use. Press up or down on the d-pad to bring up
Gun the weapon's scope. An energy sniper rifle, not very effective at
hitting enemies who are far away. Effective against enemy VS.

    GRENADES

Grenade -> Only really effective against other VS. Launches an explosive which
Launcher splits into separate pieces and detonates around targeted area.

EM -> Also known as the Anti-VS gun. Very effective against enemy VS,
Laser as well as akrid and human opponents. Hold the trigger button to

- Enemies [b03]
-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~

Plant -> Small akrid, usually have spawn points which can be destroyed.
Akrid they aren't very harmful, but large groups of them can cause Wayne
to stagger. There are explosive akrid much like these ones encount-
ered in later levels. Shoot them from afar to avoid being damaged.

Trilid -> Small, flying akrid. Usually have spawn points which can be
destroyed. They are not very harmful, but a large swarm of them
can cause Wayne to stagger as they crash into him. Shoot them
            anywhere to kill them.

Chryatis -> Large, aggressive akrid. Their weak spot is on their abdomen. On
foot, try to get behind them, or roll into them and shoot at the
weak point with a strong weapon such as a shotgun. In a VS, jump
or slide dash around them and unload into their weak spot. There
is a large form of Chryatis, they are much more deadly. Approach
with caution. If you aren't in a VS, don't even think about it.

Dongo -> Large, rolling akrid. The weak spot is on the tail. Watch out as
they roll around and can cause some heavy damage to you. Either
wait for them to roll past you, then turn around and shoot their
tail as they are facing away from you. In a VS, jump or slide
dash around them. There is a large form of dongo, be very careful.
It is best not to consider going up against one when not in a VS.
            Explosive VS weapons work best.

Scorpion -> Large akrid found in warm environments. There are two versions of
Akrid this akrid, one with the weak point on the base of its tail and
another with the weak point being on the bottom of its thorax. For
the tail one, use a rifle to shoot the base of the tail. On the
normal difficulty level, one shot with a rifle will kill the
creature. For the thorax weak point, throw a grenade under the
akrid and shoot it to make it explode.

Human -> Snow pirates and NEVEC soldiers. Can wield a variety of weapons
Enemies including machine gun, rocket launcher and energy weapons. Snow
pirates generally carry machine guns and rocket launchers, while
            NEVEC soldiers use energy weapons.

Enemy -> You will encounter pretty much every type of VS. Can be destroyed
VS in a variety of different ways. Grenades, explosive weapons, and
in later levels the EM laser is ideal. VS that have unarmored
cockpits can have their pilot ejected if they are shot at with a
            rifle or other weapon.

Sentry -> Found in certain NEVEC facilities. When their red laser is tripped
Bots they will follow you relentlessly, blasting you with their lasers.
When not firing, they are protected by an armor plating. Wait
until they open their plate to fire, and shoot their weak spot.
            Explosive weapons work best.

***IMPORTANT NOTE: This walkthrough was written based on the NORMAL difficulty
level. These strategies can be used in other difficulty levels, but the target
marks mentioned in this guide are in DIFFERENT LOCATIONS for each difficulty
level. If you are playing on a difficulty level other than NORMAL, or are not
interested in collecting the target marks (which only bear achievements as
reward), ignore all mention of target marks while using the walkthrough. There
is an achievement for collecting all of the target marks on all of the
difficulty levels... unfortunately, I can't help you there.

After the opening video sequence, you will gain control over the main charac-
ter, Wayne. Follow the soldier, Gale. Use the right thumbstick to aim up at
the ledge, when the crosshair turns green press the X button to fire your
anchor and pull yourself up to higher ground. Once the door has been opened,
follow the group of soldiers down the trapdoor and to the lower area. Here
you will encounter your first enemy. Shoot at the red spot on the creature's
rear end repeatedly until it falls. I suggest reading the brief info box on
Thermal Energy and Harmonizer that appears once you kill it.

Once the threat has been taken care of, continue following the squad of soldi-
ers. When you reach the outside area, destroy the enemy spawn on the building
straight ahead from you. Approach the data post and press the B button, tap
this button continuously until the data post has been initiated. Data posts
restore T-Energy and create a small radar arc around its location. A light
appears at its pinnacle, pointing you in direction you need to travel.
Eventually a giant akrid will enter the scene... RUN!

Follow the green clothed soldier down the road, past the two data posts. Con-
tinue to follow them up the stairs, use your anchor to follow the soldier up
to higher ground and cross the pair of overhead bridges. Activate the data
post that you come across, and enter the Vital Suit nearby. A display will
appear on screen, detailing the controls for this particular VS. Look over
the controls and then proceed. There is no winning this battle, a video sequ-
ence will activate when the Green Eye destroys your VS.

...MISSION 01 - A World of Ice.........................................[w01]..
==============================================================================
You're headed for an Akrid hive, your mission being to clear it out of its
inhabitants. There is a VS straight ahead of you when you first enter the
level. Approach it and press the B button to Enter. Move past the debris until
you reach an enemy spawn on the mountain side. There is a target mark
around here, look for the two drums of thermal energy near the water, target
mark [N01T] is behind the eastern most one. Shoot the mark to obtain it.
Target marks are not required to complete the game, they will not alter the
storyline or game play in any way. They are simply for achievement points. I
will point out all of the target marks along the way. Keep in mind that this
walkthrough was written based on the NORMAL difficulty level. The location of
target marks changes in each difficulty level.

Destroy the two enemy spawns on the mountain side and continue on your way.
You will encounter a Chryatis in the proceeding area. Circle around this Akrid
and shoot the red bulb on its rear until it falls. Recover the thermal energy
from the creature. You have no choice but to leave your recently acquired VS
behind. Check the western side of this area to find a shotgun next to a dead
snow pirate. Pick up the gun and proceed into the garage. You can turn on your
light, since it is relatively dark in here, by pressing the right d-pad but-
ton. With the shotgun in hand, run through the garage and deliver a couple of
shots to the enemy spawns riddled on the floor and ceiling. When the garage is
completely cleared of spawns, stand back and destroy the fuel barrels to take
out the small Akrid. Kill off the remaining Akrid and activate the data post
in here.

When you emerge from the garage, you will be able to see a field of towers
behind a fence. Find the entrance, dig up the rocket launcher and pick it up
if you want to, though I would advise against it if you have an adequate
amount of shotgun ammo left. Use the anchor to jump up onto the tower right
in front of the opening. There is another target mark behind the tower
diagonal to this one. Get target mark [N01A] and then enter the warehouse
to the south. You will encounter another Chryatis in here, and unfortunately
you are without a VS. If you brought the rocket launcher with you, this will
be simple, just aim and shoot the weak point on its rear a couple of times.
Hopefully you still have some shotgun ammo with you. Using the shotgun, click
the left thumbstick and press the A button will pressing the left thumbstick
in the direction of the Chryatis. Continuously shoot its weak spot until it
is dead. It shouldn't take more than five shots.

With that thing out of the way, destroy the small Akrid and spawns littering
the warehouse. In the southwest corner of this area, you can use your anchor
to reach the catwalk where you will find target mark [N01R]. Shoot the fuel
barrels up against the back of the warehouse to create an opening. Head out-
side and you will encounter a couple of Dongo. More Dongo will appear, but you
do not have to stay and fight. Use your anchor to reach the higher ground and
activate the data post up here. There are some more Dongo on the trail here,
and you will have to watch for the falling rocks. There is a rocket launcher
by the entrance of the hive, but it is not necessary to pick it up. Enter the
hive, consider switching out your machine gun or shotgun for the gatling gun.

Destroy the enemy spawns that are visible in the distance. Activate the data
post and cross the rock bridge. There is another target mark here, just
before the set of orange pods, look to your left. You should be able to see
target mark [N01H] near the lower level in the distance. Shoot the target
mark and continue on your way. If you are target mark hunting, when you reach
the end of the bridge, turn left and drop down to the lowest level. In the
eastern corner, you will find target mark [N01E]. Make your way back up to the
rock bridge, follow it to the end, hop down to the lower level and head south-
west. Destroy the enemy spawns and activate the data post up ahead. Follow the
southeast bridge and you will find yourself in the boss' lair...

You probably aren't expecting much of a challenge, with this being your
first boss battle and all. First, you are up against a giant Dongo. This
akrid is killed in the same way that its smaller counterpart is. When
you first enter the nest, immediately look to your right for a GTF-11 VS.
approach it and press the B button to Enter. A control diagram for this
particular VS will appear on screen as you enter. Search around for ano-
ther gatling gun and attach it to the side of the VS that is free by
standing over it and pressing the B button. With two gatling guns, you
will be able to make short work of this akrid. As with the smaller Dong-

All you really need to do is utilize the sliding dash function of your
newly acquired VS to maneuver yourself around the Akrid so you can unlo-
ad the gatling guns on its weak spot. Press the Y button and push the
R-Thumbstick in the direction towards its tail. You'll have to keep an
eye on this Akrid, however, as it will roll along the walls and come
rolling back down onto you, which deals a substantial amount of damage
to your VS. Just slide dash out of the way of the rolling Dongo just

==============================================================================
...MISSION 02 - Stronghold Assault.....................................[w02]..
==============================================================================
Your next destination, the Crimson Pirate fortress. Move forward and activate
the data post up ahead. When you reach the large, open area, turn left and
take the shotgun here. There are various frozen Akrid and a couple of thermal
energy barrels that can be destroyed for your T-ENG level. As you move through
this area to the opposite end, Dongo will appear around you. They shouldn't
give you too much trouble if you picked up that shotgun. There is another data
post near the end of this area, just before the large archway. There is a
rocket launcher to the right, it may be a good idea to pick it up as you will
be facing a couple of Chryatis in the proceeding area. Move under the archway
and look to your left, target mark [N02S] is located in the window to the
far right.

Move past the archway, there are many Akrid in this area and they will contin-
uously respawn, so it may be wise to simply move through this area quickly.
When the Chryatis appear, a couple of rocket launcher shots to the weak point
will destroy them. Look for the organic door in the mountain side, the orange
pods can be shot and the thermal energy within can be used to replenish your
T-ENG level. Activate the data post here and proceed. As you step out of the
cave, look to your left for a truck. Shoot the door until it is destroyed,
inside you will find a VS. You will encounter snow pirates in this next area,
be careful of the ones using rocket launchers.

If your VS sustains a large amount of damage, another VS can be found downed
in a corner along the path. Activate the data post and proceed through the
hole in the ruins. Take out the group of snow pirates in the corner, I suggest
ditching the VS at this point. Use your anchor to travel up the ruin via the
various levels. Target mark [N02O] can be found in the highest eastern window
in the ruins. Climb up to the very top, you will find yourself on a giant
bridge, activate the data post up here. The bridge is littered with snow
pirates, there is however a GTF-13M VS up here which you can use to help you
cross. You may encounter a couple of enemy VS up here, just use yours to
quickly destroy them.

When you reach a break in your path, exit your VS and drop down. Look behind
the grate on the south side of this lower group to find target mark [N02T].
Use your anchor to get up to the opposite side of the bridge. You'll have to
slowly make your way across here, as it is absolutely packed with enemies. Be
extra careful, as there are a couple of rocket launcher wielding foes about.
Use the downed trucks for cover, as well as a vantage point for taking out
enemy snow pirates below. There are fuel barrels scattered around, take adva-
ntage of this if you notice snow pirates near them. You will eventually reach
another break in the path, with a rifle placed conveniently near there. Activ-
ate the data post and pick up the rifle. Take out as many enemies as you can
see from your current position. Press the D-pad up to bring up the weapon's
scope, press up again to zoom in even closer.

Once all of the snow pirates on the opposite side have been killed, carefully
make your way across the steel beam connecting the two sides. You will be
greeted by an enemy VS once you reach the other side. Look around at the
weapons on the ground, there is a rocket launcher on the far end. This VS has
a missile launcher attached to it, to dodge its missles, push the L-Thumbstick
to the left or right, click it and press the A button to perform an evasive
roll. Continue doing this while shooting rockets at the VS, it will eventually
fall, leaving a generous amount of thermal energy behind. Before you proceed,
look around for some additional ammo for your rifle. Climb up the container
and proceed into the next area.

When you enter the area, with your rifle equipped, look around and pick off
any snow pirate that you can see. Use your anchor to climb up onto the train
car in here, then from here use it to get up to the catwalk above. With your
rifle, kill the snow pirates up here and the ones down below. There are three
sections of catwalk, when you reach the last one, near the end look to the
left for target mark [N02M], which is floating in the air just about level
with the catwalk you are standing on. When you reach the end of the catwalk,
drop down to your right, there should be a rocket launcher just before the
opening down here, keep the rifle and switch your other gun for it. Go through
the opening when you are ready. Follow the path and step outside. Welcome to
the Crimson Pirate Fortress.

When you emerge from the tunnel, use your rifle to kill the few snow pirates
standing below you. Use your rocket launcher to blast the VS on the small bui-
lding across from you. Hop down and use your anchor to get up onto the small
building. Ahead, there are some gun emplacements on the building. One rocket
will destroy a gun emplacement, so take aim and fire. The last target mark
is within the house on the small hill to the west. Use the anchor to climb up
the hill and over the fence near the closed gate. There is a data post on the
shed, climb up and activate it. Use this as a vantage point to take out the
enemy snow pirates surrounding the house. Some of them are conveniently stand-
ing next to fuel barrels. There is some rocket launcher ammo on top of the
house. When the coast is clear, drop down and enter. Target mark [N02R] can
be found behind some boxes in here, near the stairs.

Climb back up on top of the house and use the anchor to jump over the fence.
Kill the snow pirates in front of the fortress and activate the data post.
Take the rocket launcher ammo from behind the boxes near the data post here.
You can raise another data post on the building that had the gun emplacements
on it for some additional thermal energy. When you are ready, step inside the
fortress.

==============================================================================
...MISSION 03 - Crossing the Plains....................................[w03]..
==============================================================================
Approach the small bunker and activate the data post on top of it. There are
a couple of VS next to the bunker, enter one of them. Head to the eastern most
bunker, look for the small platform adjacent to the bunker, target mark
[N03I] is there. Destroy the thermal energy barrels for some added T-ENG. Go
to the northern most container (it has a VS next to it) in the western portion
of this area. From here, head straight through the gap in the barricade and
turn around. Look to your right for target mark [N03R]. Now, try to ride out
onto the ice field. When you topple over, look behind you. Yeah.

One of the secret achievements, "Worm Hunter," can be unlocked if you defeat
this giant Akrid and live to tell the tale. The thing is, if you die at all
during the mission, even at the boss, you will not get the achievement. For
this simple reason, if you really want the Worm Hunter achievement I suggest
trying to unlock it on the EASY difficulty level. If only to avoid possible
frustration, as the worm is relatively hard to defeat. For now, just worry
about staying alive! There is a data post north from the opening in the
barricade that you came through, run to it. The Undeep (the giant worm), can
and quite happily will, eat you alive if you give it the chance. Position the
camera in such a way that you can see behind you, there aren't many obstacles
in the field, so you shouldn't have a hard time moving blind. If you see the
worm charging towards you in an attempt to eat you for its lunch, push the
L-Thumbstick left or right, click it and press the A button to perform an
evasive roll. Hey, nobody said crossing the plains would be easy.

From here, head northeast and continue heading in this direction until you
encounter a data post with target mark [N03E] next to it. Don't bother to
activate the data post. West from here, you should be able to see a structure
in the distance. There is another target mark here, so if you are hunting
for them head west towards it. The target mark [N03M] can be found along the
base of this structure. There is a data post up some stairs in this area,
climb up if you are in need of T-ENG. Now head northwest towards the structure
that is visible in the distance, do not enter it however. Look to its pinnacle
for target mark [N03G]. If you are playing on the normal difficulty level and
you have been collecting the target marks, you will have to make a detour here
before fighting the boss, if not just proceed into this structure and skip the
proceeding paragraph.

From here, go southwest until you reach a cliffside. Follow this cliffside all
the way to target mark [N03A]. You will encounter a data post along the way,
too, so if you see this you know you are on the right track. Don't forget
about the giant worm... Keep your camera focused on it as not to be eaten. The
trek back shouldn't be too difficult, just follow along the cliffside back to
the structure. When you arrive, stand near the windows and prepare to face the
boss.

This is another VS battle, though quite a bit tougher than the last one
that you had. Wayne very wisely runs towards a vacant VS. As soon as you
gain control over Wayne, enter the VS that he is standing by. This VS
has a rocket launcher and a gatling gun initially attached to it, use
these weapons as best as you can to bring down the enemy VS' health bar.
The enemy VS is equipped with an energy laser and a missile launcher.
It can also maneuver around the battlefield relatively quickly. The VS
you are piloting, luckily, is equipped with a sliding dash function,
which can be used to dodge the enemy's attacks. Just slide dash around
the enemy in an attempt to dodge the attacks thrown at you and unload
into the enemy VS. Of course, your strongest weapon here is the rocket
launcher attachment. You'll want to be careful with this, however, take
special care in aiming as to not waste any of your much needed ammo.

If your VS is destroyed, there is another VS in the area that you can
pilot. It is initially equipped with a single rocket launcher, and there
is another rocket launcher nearby. Get into the VS and attach the second
rocket launcher to the unoccupied side. These two weapons should be able
to make short work of your opponent. Just continue doing as you were
doing before, and be sure to take the time to aim your shots. If, by
chance, this VS is destroyed too, you'll have to go on foot, but there
are both human and VS rocket launchers in here. Grab either of these and

==============================================================================
...MISSION 04 - Mountain Route 1.......................................[w04]..
==============================================================================
Destroy all of the enemy spawns lining the trail, there is a data post around
the corner that you can activate. A dongo will appear, there is a shotgun
near the beginning of the level that can make short work of it. Follow the
straightforward trail, eventually you will come to a hole with a downed snow
pirate next to it. Just ahead and a bit to the left, you will find target
mark [N04E1]. You will have to drop down the hole, and as you are probably
already aware of, the bottom is absolutely packed with enemy spawns. Drop down
the hole, your character will automatically attach the anchor to the side of
the hole instead of letting himself plummet down to the ground below. Don't
drop down from here yet, remain hanging there and lower yourself down a bit.
Throw a few grenades down near the spawn points and shoot at the fuel barrels
scattered around to clear out the room.

When most of the Akrid are dead, drop down to the ground below by pressing the
X button. There are some spawns lining the walls, too, so you can remain up
there and simply destroy them using your machine gun. There is a VS gatling
gun in this area, I suggest taking it with you, and while you are at it, grab
the gum grenades found on top of some boxes nearby. Go through the south door
when you are ready to proceed, look to the left bottom corner as you enter to
find target mark [N04O]. Use the anchor to reach the higher ground. Don't
proceed just yet, use your gatling gun to take out the rocket launcher using
snow pirate on the crane ahead as well as the sniper on the boxes just to the
left of him. As soon as you enter the next area, turn left and chuck a few gum
grenades at the seemingly idle VS and then roll back through the entrance way
and unload the gatling gun on it.

With those three threats out of the way, concentrate on taking out the snow
pirates around you with the gatling gun. There are a couple of snipers to the
right, so be careful. Only activate the data post once all of the enemies in
the immediate area have been dealt with. Some Dongo will drop down, only to be
taken out by the VS around the corner. This enemy VS doesn't appear to have
any explosive weapons, so you can take it out with your gatling gun from a
safe distance. Use the anchor to climb up to the walkway on the southside of
the room. Hop down to the lower part and look to the left of the boxes below
to find target mark [N04R]. There are several thermal energy tanks in this
area, destroy them to replenish some T-ENG and then proceed to the next area.

You will find yourself back outside. Drop down onto the stationary platform to
your right and it will begin to move. As it passes the ledge and before it
reaches the flames, use your anchor to jump up onto the ledge. Kill the snow
pirates here and follow the mountain trail. Near the end of the trail, at the
very corner of the cliff, you can find target mark [N04M]. Proceed through
the opening at the end of the trail. Inside you will find a vacant VS, first
activate the data post to the right, then approach the VS and enter. Attach
the laser rifle that can be found nearby to your VS, then press the Y button
to jump up onto the platform in the eastern corner of this area. Before you
hop up to a higher level, look up and destroy the floating bulb akrid. When
they touch you, they will explode, so shoot at them from afar as to avoid
damage to your VS as you ascend.

Jump up higher and higher until you are just below the entrance to the outside
area. Before jumping up to the outside area, jump across to the lower platform
in front of you. Look across at the structure you were just on, you should be
able to see target mark [N04T] on the right portion of the bottom layer. Jump
back up onto the highest point in this area and hop outside. In this area, you
will find a thermal energy container, a buried VS and the last target mark.
Target mark [N04E2] is to the west, along the cliffside. Get out of your VS,
as it is more than likely damaged somewhat, and begin to dig up the buried
VS. Tap the B button and enter the VS when it is free. There is a laser rifle
buried in the snow as well, though it is probably not the best weapon for the
particular boss that you are about to face. If you switched out a weapon for
the rocket launcher on your way up here, you would be much better off removing
that from your old VS and switching the gatling gun out for it on your new VS.
When you are ready, hop up the rocks to the higher ground above.

This time, you are fighting a giant flying Akrid. Hopefully, your VS is
armed with both the initially attached missile launcher and the rocket
launcher. With these two weapons attached to your VS, this boss is a
real pushover. As with all weapons with a slow firing rate, you will
have to take extra care with aiming, as to not waste any of your much
needed ammo. The boss' weak point is on its abdomen, so direct all of
your missles there. You must be careful, however, as this akrid tends to
rear up its abdomen at times, which can cause your fired missles to whip
right by it and sail into the distance. You'll want to fire both guns
once you are sure that it will remain still for a long enough amount of
time, like just after it performs an attack. This akrid is heavy into
explosives, utilize both the long jump and high jump to avoid these
attacks. There is a small hill in the middle of the area, you can use
this as cover.

It may also fly out into the distance, then swoop down and try to knock
into you. You can avoid this by either pressing the A button and pressi-
is another rocket launcher nearby. Get into the VS and attach the second
ng it again to double jump out of the way, or you cam press the Y button
to do a high jump. If your VS is destroyed, there is another VS of the
same type in the area. It is initially equipped with a gatling gun, but
there is another gatling gun lying nearby. There is also a rocket laun-
cher VS attachment on the hill in the middle of this area, with which
you should be able to deplete the remainder of your enemies health bar.

...MISSION 05 - Mountain Route 2.......................................[w05]..
==============================================================================
If you are playing on the Normal difficulty and are looking for the target
marks, to start, head north past all of the structures. Turn around once you
reach the end and look to the side of the structure to find target mark
[N05R1]. Backtrack a bit and begin your climb, starting with the platform con-
taining the data post. Watch for the falling rocks! Activate the data post and
then anchor to the platform across. Shoot the fuel barrels to clear out the
Akrid, then proceed inside. Take the energy gun in here and head back outside
and anchor up to the above level. Enter the small room up here and destroy the
enemy spawn. Look in the alcove to find target mark [N05R2]. Back outside,
attach your anchor to the arch next to the platform and use it to propel
yourself to the farther platform. Again, watch for the falling rocks.

Climb up to the next level and look behind the piece of wall to the right of
the doorway for target mark [N05A1]. You've probably noticed the giant moth,
as with the Undeep in the third mission, killing this akrid will give you an
achievement if you complete the level. I suggest just leaving it for now and
possibly killing it on the EASY difficulty level, if only to avoid any frus-
tration. To the right of the doorway, use your anchor to climb up to the next
level using the mountain edge. Follow the cliffside north and enter the Akrid
hive.

There is a data post straight ahead. Approach and activate it. The hive is
swarming with Trilid and smaller versions of the boss Akrid that you faced in
the previous level. Try to destroy as many Trilid spawn points as you can, to
make things a bit easier on yourself. Drop down to the left and head under the
archway. Destroy the orange pods to replenish some T-ENG while you're at it.
Head northwest from here and you should be able to spot target mark [N05A2] in
between a rock wall and a rock pillar. There is a gatling gun down here, I
suggest picking it up. There is a VS down here, too, enter and place the
second gatling gun on its free side. Use the rock stairs to hop back up to the
upper level of the hive.

From the data post, head east and follow this path. Move slowly, if any spike
bulb akrid appear, back up and unload onto the explosive bulbs, then proceed
down the path. You can shoot down the stalactites hanging from the cave ceili-
g, which will leave behind some thermal energy. When you reach the end of the
path, there is a small tunnel that you have to go through. When you reach the
second set of stalactites from the tunnel entrance, look on the ledge near them
for target mark [N05U]. At the end of the tunnel, there is a fresh VS, though
your current VS shouldn't be in too bad condition. Leave your VS, activate the
data post, hop back in and hop down to the level below. Fall down the holes
and you will find yourself in a large area. To the right of the northern open-
ing in this area, you will find target mark [N05O]. Look to the west for an
organic opening, shoot it and drop down into the boss' lair.

A VS won't last long against this akrid if you don't try to move out
of the way of its attacks. Your current VS should have the slide dash
function, use this to dodge out of the way of its damaging attacks. This
boss looks sort of like a giant form of a Chryatis. This akrid's weak
spot, however, is on its head. When you drop down, there is a rocket
launcher right by you. Switch it with one of your gatling guns. Use the
slide dash to move around the creature, while firing the gatling gun
into its head. There are several stalactites above the creature, you can
shot one with your gatling gun, it will fall and hit the creature, deal-
ing damage and possibly knocking the Akrid over in the process. At this
point, it is time to use the newly acquired rocket launcher to blast
a shot to its weak point. Only use the rocket launcher if you are fairly
certain that it will hit the weak point, dealing a large amount of dam-
age.

If your VS is destroyed, there are a couple more VS laying around the
nest. There is a GTB-22 (the jumping one) in this area, you can use the
double jump to dodge the creature's attacks in place of the sliding
dash. There are several guns scattered around that you can attach to
your VS. Be sure to use the stalactites above to your advantage, if it
knocks over the creature you will get a multitude of free shots on its
weak point. Continue this until the enemy health bar is depleted.

...MISSION 06 - Green Eye Returns......................................[w06]..
==============================================================================
Start by activating the data post to your right. The path is lined by NEVEC
soldiers, move slowly as a couple of them are wielding rocket launchers. As
you are moving down the street, look to the left. There is another data post
on a platform with an enemy VS. A rocket launcher is lying nearby, you can
either use this or a hand grenade to destroy the enemy VS. Activate the data
post, then look to the north. Target mark [N06T] can be found at the end of
the railing along the wall. Turn south and jump down from the platform. At the
base of the platform, target mark [N06U]. From the base, head south and use
your anchor up to the ledge above. Look to the left of the left corner of the
archway to find target mark [N06N]. If you can find a plasma gun along the
road here, take it. You will need it for the next stretch of road.

If you have a plasma rifle with you, take out the NEVEC soldiers around the
street. There is a rocket launcher on a platform to the right, hop onto the
platform and pick it up. Take out the NEVEC soldiers that you can see from
the platform, there are a couple of snipers on the archway. There are also a
couple of gun batteries along the road, which can be taken out rather easily
with the plasma rifle. Hop off the ledge and move under the archway, an
enemy VS will appear. Move back to the ledge that you were on and use the
rocket launcher to destroy the enemy VS. It has a missile launcher attached
to it, so you will want to push the L-Thumbstick left or right, click it and
press the A button to perform an evasive roll when a missile is coming towards
you. To the left of the ledge, there is a data post. Activate the data post,
hop down and move under the archway. As you pass under it, look to your left
to find target mark [N06H].

When you reach the end of the road, turn right and head through the opening
here. Kill the NEVEC soldiers, behind the container across from the opening,
you can find target mark [N06D]. Use your anchor to climb up to the higher
ground and head outside. A short cutscene will be triggered. After viewing the
cutscene, you will be back in control of Wayne, who is now piloting his fathe-
r's VS. You have been given a generous amount of T-ENG to start with. When you
move past the first doorway, turn around, press right or left on the D-pad,
and search around the top of the door for target mark [N06E].

In the next room, you'll find a gatling gun and a rocket launcher. Don't take
the rocket launcher, just grab some more gatling gun ammo. In the proceeding
area, look to the ceiling for target mark [N06R]. Continue down the expanse of
the hall to trigger a boss battle.

the L-Thumbstick to dash away from the gigantic Akrid. It begins by cha-
rging towards you, if it manages to connect with your VS it will deal a
sustainable amount of damage. If your VS is destroyed, it's mission
failed for you. You have to start by destroying all of the greenish weak
points its sides. With two gatling guns, you can tear through them rela-
tively quickly. Basically, just slide dash around the arena until the
creature's weak spots are accessible, then unload into as many of them
as you can. When one is destroyed, it will leave behind a large amount
of thermal energy. Be sure to pick these up if you are low.

Green Eye has the basic charge attack, which you can avoid by slide da-
shing to the left or right, and it also has a variety of ice based
attacks. One such attack fires a trail of ice in front of the creature,
this is about as easily dodged as the charge attack. It indicates that
it is about to use this attack when it rears up on its hind portion. The
only attack that you may have difficulty avoiding is the ice shower, if
you notice it is being used, just slide dash to the left or right as far
away from the area of effect as you can.

After destroying the weak points on its sides, a new set of weak points
will be accessible on its head. Pop these four weak points and its main
weak point will be visible. Slide dash around the arena, away from the
creature, as it is will be in a frenzy at this point. Slide around until
you find the VS rocket launcher lying around, attach it to your VS.
Slide dash away from the charging creature while firing the rocket la-
uncher and gatling gun at its weak point. A couple of rockets should do
the trick. Try to let it charge away from you, when it comes back around
blast the weak point with a rocket.

==============================================================================
...MISSION 07 - Caravan Ambush.........................................[w07]..
==============================================================================
Activate the data post in front of you once you gain control over Wayne. To
your right there is a metal platform. Use your anchor to get up there, take
rifle and kill the two NEVEC soldiers by the truck below. Now quickly hop
down, run to the truck and grab the plasma gun. You are going to have to use
the evasive roll by pressing forward on the L-Thumbstick, clicking it and
pressing the A button to dodge the enemy fire. With the plasma gun in hand,
backtrack to the data post that you activated when you first entered the
level. From here, use the plasma gun to destroy the enemy VS that are scatter-
ed around the field. Four to five shots with the plasma gun will take down the
small GTF-13M VS that the enemy are using. Of course, they aren't just going
to stand by and let you pick them off, while you are aiming move from side to
side to dodge the enemy fire. They should be a reasonable distance from you,
leaving you with an adequate amount of time to sidestep out of the way of the
missiles.

Head south from the first data post and activate the next post. To the left of
the shed to the south lays target mark [N07T]. Shoot at the metal door, inside
the hangar there is a VS that you can pilot. You can take the VS, but due to
the sheer amount of enemies moving around your destination to the south, I
suggest standing back and using the plasma gun to pick off the enemies from a
distance. There are some bigger VS near the doorway that you need to pass
through, they can take much more of a beating from the plasma gun than the
GTF-13M VS. Focus your shots on the VS' cockpit and it will go down event-
ually. If you don't feel like standing back, there should be a double missile
launcher VS on the back of a flatbed in the fray of enemies that can cause
some serious damage.

Once the smoke has cleared, look above the large doorway to find target mark
[N07O1]. For some reason, it can be kind of hard to hit this one. You can use
the VS to the right of the doorway, just jump up and blast the mark with the
laser rifles. Make sure you hit it by looking for it with the plasma gun and
then proceed.

Jump up onto the bunker with the data post on it and activate the post. You
can search around this area to find some weapons and some barrels of thermal
energy. Be sure to take the rocket launcher on the container behind the bunker
with the data post. There is some additional rocket launcher ammo by the metal
tower. Gather as much thermal energy as you can before heading out, you'll
need it. Next to this tower lies a VS, enter it. When you enter the field, you
will encounter a larger and more powerful form of Chryatis. Really, in all
seriousness, you're best off just running. These things will tear through your
VS if you get to close to them, and you aren't just facing one of them, you
are facing several of them at a time. You'll want to head north, you will come
across a couple of data posts, but just leave them be unless you are really
lost and need to be pointed in the right direction. For target mark [N07A],
head north until you reach a cliffside. Walk along the cliffside until you
come across the mark. If you reach the data post with the buried VS, turn
back because you have passed it along the cliffside.

There is a fresh VS by one of the data posts to the far north, you will have
to dig it up. It is equipped with a grenade gun and rocket launcher, which
will come in handy. If you are looking for the target marks, head to the
northeast ruins. If you are playing on a difficulty other than normal, or
do not care for the target marks, skip the rest of this paragraph. Target
mark [N07N] is on the left side (when looking east) of the ruins. Go through
the opening on the left side and turn right. Getting the next one is going to
be dangerous. Hopefully you are still piloting the PTX-140 VS with the sliding
dash function, because you are going to need to outrun those giant Chryatis.
From the ruins, you are going to have to travel to the structure southeast
from there. When you arrive (facing west), you can find the target mark [N07R]
in between the set of columns to the left.

Travel to the building to the southeast (if you were following the paragraph
above you are already there) and head up the stairs. Touch the doorway to
enter the next area. You will find yourself in a heavily guarded area. Start
by killing the NEVEC soldier here, then climb down to the second level and
clear the others out. Drop down through the hole to the third, and activate
the data post while you are here. Drop down to the third level, grab the
plasma gun down here. If you are looking for the target mark, face to the
south and step off the platform to the left. Wayne will automatically attach
his anchor to the edge. Look in the bottom right corner for target mark
[N07D]. You'll have to shoot at it while hanging down the side.

If you haven't noticed, there are numerous sentry bots in your path. If you
trip one of their red lasers, you are in for an annoying experience. The sen-
try bot will continuously follow you around, only lowering its defense to
blast you with a laser. If you happen to trip one or more of the lasers, the
annoyance is intensified. If you have a rocket launcher, they can be dealt
with quite easily, just blast them when they open to fire a laser. Your best
bet would be to just avoid tripping the red lasers. From the lowest level, use
your anchor to climb up onto the ledge to your right (while facing southeast).
Follow along the side here, watch out for the red lasers! When you reach the
end of the line, take out the gun batteries and NEVEC soldiers below with your
plasma rifle before dropping down.

Shoot at the metal door to destroy it, inside you will find some more NEVEC
soldiers. By the doorway leading outside, target mark [N07O2]. Step back out
and destroy the metal door to the north, use the anchor to pull yourself in.
Activate the data post, destroy the thermal energy tanks and enter the VS
waiting for you on the elevator.

it at all, really. Start by jumping up onto the platform with the VS

need to do to destroy this boss, on easy-normal difficulty at least, is
circle around the enemy VS and unload the shotgun into it. Do this and
the health bar will fall quite rapidly. Be sure to stay relatively close

...MISSION 08 - Volcano Dome Facility..................................[w08]..
==============================================================================
Destroy the enemy spawns in the distance, use your anchor to climb up onto the
metal platform when you come to it. Climb up the stairs to the right, use your
anchor to climb up to higher ground. Activate the data post here, hop down and
cross the bridge below. At the end of this mountain ledge you can find target
mark [N08V]. Down below, there is a giant scorpion akrid. There is a rifle on
one of the bridges with fuel barrels, be sure to take it. One shot with the
rifle to the orange spot on the base of the scorpion akrid's tail will kill
it. Near the truck to the east, another scorpion akrid will appear. Hop over
the boxes. Shoot the metal door until it breaks off, activate the data post on
the other side.

Down the slope, there is a large group of akrid. Either blast them with a
rocket or throw a grenade at them. Be careful, as scorpion akrid do spawn
around here. Use your rifle to take them out. There is also another kind of
scorpion akrid, with the weak spot being on its stomach. They are a little
harder to kill, though. Throw a hand grenade underneath their stomach, then
shoot it to make it explode. If you aren't after the target marks skip the
rest of this paragraph. When you reach the end of the slope and are in the
large area, turn left (while looking south), go down the slope and drop down
into the area below. There are some scorpion akrid down here, so be careful.
Target mark [N08O1] is found near one of the metal containers around here.

If you are playing on a difficulty other than normal, or don't care about the
target marks, turn right when you step off the slope (while looking south) and
follow this path until you are outside. There is a VS here, which you can use
to kill the flying and scorpion akrid. Drop down to the lower level, shoot the
metal door and go through. Exit the VS you are riding in and enter the GAB-
25M. Follow the road until you reach a data post. At this point, exit the VS,
activate the post, get back in and continue on your way. You will be taken in-
to the an interior facility. There is nothing interesting in the initial area,
break through the metal door and enter the next. On the platform straight
ahead of you as you enter, you can find target mark [N08L]. You'll want to
exit your VS so you can anchor up to the platform if you want to get the mark.

Move through this room and you will find yourself back outside. There are
large rolling akrid in this area that are quite hard to defeat and can cause
a lot of damage to your VS. Its weak spot is on its tail, just circle around
it and blast it with the VS cannon and laser vulcan. There is a data post
nearby when you first step outside, exit the VS and activate it. Hop down onto
the lower ground. On top of hangar the down here is target mark [N08C]. Exit
the GAB-25M VS and enter the GTB-22 Take that is inside the hangar. The time
to destroy the containers around this area and consume the thermal energy
within. To cross the lava flow, stand so that your VS is facing the land
across. Press the Y button and the VS will jump across. There is a highway to
the right, use your VS to jump up onto it. Run to the end of it to continue
into the next area.

Watch for the sentry bots. There is a rocket launcher on the ground near the
truck, take it as you will probably need it. When you step onto the highway,
two enemy mechs will appear. You should still be in your VS, try your best to
take them both out. If they destroy your VS, use the rocket launcher that you
picked up to finish them off. On the left side of the highway there is a data
post, activate it. Next to the data post there is another rocket launcher. If
you look towards the lava to your left, you should be able to see an enemy VS
sitting on a metal platform. Use your rocket launcher to destroy it from afar.
When you are ready, drop down. There is an enemy VS down here with a laser
rifle and a homing laser attachment. You'll have to roll quite a bit to dodge
all of its attacks. In between the enemy's attacks, blast it with a rocket
and then go back to rolling.

Target mark [N08A] is on the suspended platform, on the lower level. Grapple up
to it, there is also a VS rocket launcher there too. Target mark [N08N] is on
one of the far rivets on the eastern bridge. Across the bridge, you will enco-
unter an enemy GAB-25M VS. This type VS is pretty hard to destroy. There is a
plasma gun on a rock in this area that can cause some damage, but start by
emptying your rocket launcher on it. If you're lucky, the VS will be stupid
enough to roll into the lava and sit there trying to blast you with its cannon
until it dies. If you can't defeat it, just run. Go through the tunnel and
drop down through the hole. Climb up the series of ledges until you are in the
next area. There is an EM laser (AKA Anti-VS gun) on one of the ledges, be
sure to pick it up, but hold on to your plasma rifle at the same time.

Activate the data post up here. There are a couple of enemy VS in the large
open area ahead of you. The EM laser can tear through these guys. Start by
shooting them with the plasma gun to get there attention, they should start
marching towards you. When the get close, pick up the EM laser, hold RT and
fire. They are using laser weapons, so you will have to roll quite a bit to
avoid their attacks. The EM laser eats up a substantial amount of T-ENG, be
sure to collect the thermal energy left behind by the enemy VS to compensate
for this. There is an unoccupied PTX-140 VS in this room, enter it and be sure
to switch out the rocket launcher for the EM laser.

There is another enemy VS in the next room, and one on the lift in the back.
The first one can be taken out easily with the EM laser, while the second one
will ride the lift up to a higher level. Just ignore it for now. Activate the
data post when you have the chance. There are a bunch of thermal energy conta-
iners around this area. Take the time to destroy them and collect the thermal
energy. Make your way to the top of the area. To the right there are two fans,
behind the blades of the farthest fan is target mark [N08O2].

Yet another VS battle. This one is a little more challenging than what
you are probably used to. When you first step down into the large area,
stand on the ledge to the right. You should still be piloting the VS
with the EM laser and gatling gun attachments. The boss has three GAB-
25M VS around him, concentrate on taking them out with the EM laser
first before turning to the boss. Hold the LT (or RT) trigger to charge
the EM laser, than fire towards the lesser VS. A few shots like this
will destroy them. The boss VS won't be ignoring you, however. Utilize
the sliding dash function on your VS to dodge its cannon blasts as you
are destroying its minions.

Now for the hard part. If your VS is heavily damaged, exit it and enter
one of the fresh ones on the ledge. Don't worry about the EM laser, it
is near useless against this boss. In its tank form, the enemy VS will
drill charge you, if this connects it will deal a critical amount of
damage to your VS. This boss' weak point is only visible while it is in
its spider form. While it is in its tank form, stay as far away from it
as you can. You will be able to see it charging at you in the distance,
allowing you to slide dash out of the way to avoid damage. It will also
fire its cannon at you, which is easily dodged. In its spider form, the
VS will fire homing missiles at you and it will fire its laser vulcan.
To dodge the homing missiles, either slide dash away from them or, if
your VS has a gatling gun attached to it, shoot them to make them expl-
ode. The weak point is the cylinder on the bottom of the VS in spider
form.

There are large pipes on the ceiling around the arena that can be shot
down. If the enemy VS is standing under them, they will fall on it, dea-
ling a small amount of damage while pushing it away. One weapon that you
will need to defeat this boss is the grenade gun. Knock down the steel
cylinder on the ground in the area, the grenade gun is under there. For
added damage, you can attach a rocket launcher to the opposite side of
your VS and shoot it at the same time as the grenade gun. When it is
visible, attach it to your VS. If your VS is sent into the DANGER state,
get back on the ledge and get out of it so you can retrieve the grenade
gun from its side. If the VS explodes with the grenade gun still attach-
ed to it, it is gone forever. This way, you can make sure that you will
get the most out of the ammo in the gun. You want to aim the shots unde-
rneath the VS when it is in spider form, this should deal a large amount
of damage.

You can even use the grenade gun while on foot, but it is really hard to
dodge the drill charge attack when you cannot slide dash. Use the plat-
form that held the cylinder to separate yourself from the drill charge.
When you see him turn back to spider form, run towards him and shoot at
the weak point.

...MISSION 09 - Thermal Energy Deposit.................................[w09]..
==============================================================================
Move past the two trucks in front of you, kill the NEVEC soldiers that you are
able to see. There is a fence with some thermal energy towers behind it. Kill
the NEVEC soldier on the tower to the right, then run past the fence. There is
a rifle in front of a large number of NEVEC soldiers, grab this rifle and then
backtrack to the truck. Use the rifle to pick off all of the NEVEC soldiers
blocking your path. With the NEVEC soldiers out of the way, activate the data
post and look around for a plasma gun. Pick it up, but keep the rifle. There
should be another rifle around the boxes, find it and pick it up for some
additional ammo. From the highway you are on, use the rifle to kill all of the
NEVEC soldiers that you can see. If you shoot at the person in a VS with an
unarmored cockpit, that person will be released. If not, use the plasma rifle
to destroy the VS that are on the metal towers in the lava.

There is a hangar with a VS in it if you run to the end of the highway and
drop down. There is a pyramid with several gun batteries on it, you can use
the plasma rifle or VS rocket launcher to destroy them. If you are after the
target marks, climb up the pyramid and onto the adjacent highway. Run to the
end of the highway to find target mark [N09R]. Cross the lava river and climb
up the hill. Activate the data post here and proceed inside. Drop down onto
the lower level. In the western corner is target mark [N09A]. Climb back up
and head into the next area. Drop down through the middle and follow the
tunnel into the next room. Shoot at the puffy flying akrid to make them
explode. Drop down onto the platform before the doorway. Use your anchor to
reach the platform with the data post on it. Activate the post. The platform
across from this holds a rocket launcher.

Before you drop down, be absolutely certain that you will not fall into the
lava! When you reach the ground, enter the GAB-25M VS. Do not let this VS get
destroyed, you will need it later on. Press the RT button or X to activate
the drill while in tank mode. Position yourself in front of the rock wall and
use the drill to create an opening. Press the Y button to transform into the
VS and destroy the enemy spawns in the area. Look north, use your drill to
destroy the rocks to the left. Destroy the explosive bulb akrid, look for the
ledge with the VS on it. Jump up onto the ledge and look in the corner to
the left for target mark [N09I]. Return to the previous room and take the
right passage.

If need be, get out of your VS to prevent it from receiving too much damage
if there are akrid about. Your plasma rifle and grenades should be able to
take out most of the akrid that you encounter. Move slowly through the proce-
eding tunnel, as a few explosive bulb akrid will pop up. Destroy the rocks
here, look behind the light to your left for target mark [N09B]. Head up the
ramp, look for the metal door in the eastern area of this room. Destroy it,
behind the thermal energy tank by the door is target mark [N090]. Break
through the set of metal doors. There is a fresh GAB-25M VS in one of the
hangars. Enter this VS and go through the tunnel leading to the boss' lair.
Be sure that you are in the GAB-25M VS before proceeding.

If you are looking for the final target markers, don't go through the door
just yet. Go back to the room before the one with the hangar. Jump up to the
higher level, open the hangar and enter the PTX-140 VS inside. Look to the
northern part of the room, there is a small opening in the wall. Jump through
the opening, follow the passage until you reach a thermal energy tank. Look
near the light for target mark [N09N]. Backtrack and enter the room with the
GAB-25M. Look in the hangar that the large dongo broke out of, target mark
[N09W] is in the corner to the right.

This boss is very easy if you are using the spider VS. When the boss
first appears, blast one of its front legs with the cannon and the laser
vulcan at the same time. When that leg breaks off, quickly focus on the
other front leg. With both front legs destroyed, the akrid will fall
down, exposing the large weak point on its back. Press the A button to
jump and press it again mid-jump to hover. Blast the creature in the
back with the laser vulcan and cannon until its legs regenerate. Do the
same thing, destroy the two front legs and then attack its weak spot
until the health bar is completely depleted. There is another VS, a
PTX-140, in the area. It can be used if the boss manages to destroy your
first VS. It has a rocket launcher and gatling gun attached to it initi-
ally.

==============================================================================
...MISSION 10 - Showdown Below.........................................[w10]..
==============================================================================
Start by destroying the thermal energy tanks nearby. There is a VS near there,
enter it. You will have to stand your ground here, as there are several large
akrid below, as well as a couple of gun batteries above the doorways. Most of
the large akrid will probably jump up onto the ledge in an attempt to bust up
your VS, just unload the two gatling guns on their weak spots, they should
fall rather quickly. The VS you are piloting can slide dash if you press the Y
button, use this to get out of the way of the giant dongo. Destroy the gun
batteries above the doorways to the left and right and be sure that all of the
akrid have been defeated before hoping down. There is a data post down below,
as well as some more gatling gun ammo. Activate the data post and refill your
your VS' gatling gun. You can switch one out for a shotgun attachment, too.

Go through the southern door. When you reach the overturned thermal energy
tank, look to the right of it, target mark [N10B] is behind the piece of wall.
Turn on your light by pressing left or right on the d-pad if you are having
trouble finding it. You will eventually read the end of the path, a hole will
appear above you. There is a PTX-140 here that you will have to pilot if you
want to get up to the floor above. It is initially equipped with a rocket
launcher and a grenade launcher. Definitely switch out one of them for the
shotgun or gatling gun, you will need it to defeat the akrid above. Jump up
through the hole above. Defeat the scorpion akrid here and then proceed up the
hill. Destroy the flying akrid above and then fall down through the hole.
Straight ahead, by the downed thermal energy tank, look to the right next to
the rock for target mark [N10I].

There is some VS rocket launcher ammo near the thermal energy tank. Follow the
path near the tank and you will find yourself in an underground city. There
are several flying akrid in this area, as well as a giant Chryatis. Be sure to
kill the Chryatis before you start looking around. With the rocket launcher and
shotgun/gatling gun on your VS, it shouldn't give you too much trouble. Follow
the highway down, eventually you will reach a downed flatbed. Hop over it,
turn around and jump up onto the tunnel roof. There is a fresh PTX-140 VS up
here, as well as a data post. Activate the post and switch your VS with the
new one. For target mark [N10R], look northwest to the two thermal energy
tanks, destroy them and look behind the building to find the mark. Target mark
[N10D] is on the building next to the one that the R was behind. It sits on
the ledge to the right (when facing it), below the black stone portion.

There are two entrances to the level below you in the middle of the city. Take
either one, be careful as there are some flying bulb akrid. There is a fresh
PTX-140 VS at the base of one of the entrances to the city. Search around this
area for a data post, activate it and hop up onto the ledge.

+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+--+

You need to destroy the creatures tentacles, then follow them down the
hole and shoot the weak point. When both of the weak points have been
destroyed, the boss' hidden weak point will be revealed. To start, head
to the left side of the room. Get out of your VS and take the VS rocket
launcher, which is in the middle, and place it at the base of the crea-
tures tentacle. Get back in your VS and blast the weak spot on the tent-
acle's end. Start with the one on the left. When the tentacle has been
damaged enough, it will retract into the ground. At this point, get out
of your VS, pick up the rocket launcher and follow the tentacle down the
hole. Use the rocket launcher to shoot the weak point at the tentacle's
base. One direct hit with the VS rocket launcher should be enough to
destroy it. Do the exact same thing with the creature's right tentacle.

This part is a little more hectic. Personally, I find it easier done
when not in a VS. This is due to the fact that there are electric flying
bulb akrid flying around you, with makes things a little more difficult
when in a VS because they will continuously stun you when you are tryi-
ng to hit the monster's weak point. Equip the VS rocket launcher, you
will really need to use the evasive roll a lot of you want to stay alive.
When the creature opens its mouth, revealing the... thing inside, shoot
at it with the rocket launcher. This deals a large amount of damage to
the boss, it won't take too many rockets to deplete the health bar comp-
letely. If you haven't taken the rocket launcher ammo from the left side
of the room yet, do so if you are running low. You can also take the
ammo from the VS that you were piloting if it had a rocket launcher
attached with some ammo left.

+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+--+

It's not over yet. The creature shatters, revealing a new path. Watch the
brief cutscene, grab the EM laser to your right and activate the data post
ahead. Turn right as soon as you can, use the EM laser to destroy the sentry
guns on the wall. Take the rifle that you come across, there are four more
sentry guns around the sloping passage, so be careful. A fully charged EM
laser blast should take one of them out. Before entering the next room, take
out your rifle and kill as many NEVEC soldiers as you can. Use your anchor to
climb up onto the platform ahead. Kill the soldiers up here, there are a
couple of thermal energy tanks on the far end that you can destroy to replini-
sh T-ENG. Activate the data post. for target mark [N10Z1], stand on the bridge
and look north at the container with the data post on it. It is to the right
of this container.

Take the bridge to the east, at the end of it is a hangar with a PTX-140 VS.
Inside this hangar, look in the corner to the left for target mark [N10L].
Enter the VS, look for the ledge to the north with the yellow/black stripes,
hover across with your VS. Look in the right corner for target mark [N10Z2].
As you have surely noticed, there are some large akrid below, you shouldn't
have to bother with them at all. Move through this area and kill all of the
NEVEC soldiers in your path. There should be some thermal energy tanks nearby,
destroy them if needed. There is a fresh PTX-140 VS in a hangar in the next
area. You should be able to see a large number of VS below you. Hopefully you
still have that EM laser with you, because you will probably need it.

The final target mark [N10A] is on top of the wire frame platform in the
middle of this area. It's sitting on one of the grey octagons, use the VS'
light if you are having trouble finding it through the darkness. Watch out for
the enemy VS in this area. They are easily dealt with the EM laser. Look for
the large black door. Fall through the hole under it. Showdown time!

You have plenty of VS at your disposable, so you shouldn't have a very
hard time fighting Bandero if you are careful. Bandero does have some
damaging attacks, but they are fairly easy to dodge. The sliding dash
function of the PTX-140 will help you greatly in this battle. There is
an EM laser to your left as soon as you gain control over Wayne at the
beginning of the battle. Attach it to your VS, if you already have an
EM laser on your initial VS, even better. You can use the EM laser to
bring down Bandero's health quite a bit if you charge it up all the way.
It doesn't matter where you shoot Bandero's VS, anywhere will cause some
damage. There are some sentry bots flying around that will help Bandero
attack you, take the time to kill them when Bandero is a good distance
away from you.

He has a few different attacks, one being the drill charge. The amount
of pillars in this arena make this attack relatively easy to avoid. You
just don't want to get too close to him, as he has an annoying attack
where he locks you on the spot with his drills and shocks your VS. He
also uses homing missiles, just slide dash to the side or shoot at them
when they are coming towards you. If your VS sustains a large amount of
damage, when it reaches the DANGER condition, slide dash away and seek
out another PTX-140. Stand near the VS and let him come to you, eject if
Bandero manages to destroy it. Quickly get into the VS nearby. The
rocket launcher and gatling gun also works well against his VS, just
slide dash around his VS and blast it.

Target marks [N11S], [N11T], [N11A], [N11R] can be found on the initial level.
Start by destroying all of the flying bots and enemy VS around you, which is
incredibly easy to do with Wayne's suped up VS. Target mark S is on the very
bottom, T is floating in the air below the platform leading into the tunnel.
Fly up into the tunnel, A is to the left on top of the boxes. R is on the
platform with the NEVEC doorway, just before going through the ceiling to the
next level.

Target mark [N11D] is on the base of the second level, when you fly up through
the opening be facing north. Target mark [N11U] is on the platform with the
NEVEC door before the third level. This next one may be a little hard to spot,
as you are moving up the third level, face southeast, target mark [N11S2] is
along that wall. Target mark [N11T2] is on the west wall. It's hard to spot as
well, but if you just concentrate on the wall, you should be able to spot it.

This is it, the final battle! There's no turning back now! It's Wayne's
badass VS v.s. Isenberg's even more badass VS. Isenberg has a variety
of wicked attacks in his arsenal. Most of them are very damaging to your
seemingly invincible VS. Isenberg will more than likely start off by
shooting some homing lasers at you, to dodge this just hold back on the
L-Thumbstick and hold the X button to shoot the laser vulcan at them. He
also has a laser vulcan, which fires rapidly, if he is shooting at you
just push the L-Thumbstick left or right, the shots should narrowly miss
you. When damage Isenberg's VS enough, he will call forth two floating
cannons. One will fire vertical and one fires horizontal spread shots.
These are quite hard to dodge, but you will know when he is about to use
them because he points towards you.

As for attacking Isenberg, the laser vulcan is essentially useless, your
laser swords will do all of the damage. If you hold the LT or RT button,
Wayne will charge the attack, when you release it he will slash horizon-
tally or vertically. You need to get relatively close to him for the
sword to connect. It helps to stay close to him when he orders the floa-
ting cannons to fire, because they won't be able to hit you if you are
flying up against him. Just be careful with this, as he may send homing
missiles after you instead. Don't stay too far away from him, though.
Circle around him, when he sends the homing missiles, fly backwards and
shoot them, then move back in. If you see the lasers open up to shoot,
fly into him so that they can't hit you. Just don't give up! And most
importantly, don't get careless.

[N11R] - On the platform with the NEVEC doorway, just before the second level.
[N11D] - The base of the second level, when you fly through the opening face
         north.
[N11U] - On the platform with the NEVEC doorway, just before the opening to
         the third level.
[N11S2]- May be a little hard to spot, as you are moving up the third level,
face southeast, target mark along that wall. It kind of blends in
with the wall pattern, so look closely.
[N11T2]- on the west portion of the wall of the third level. It's hard to spot
as well, but if you just concentrate on the wall, you should be able
         to spot it.
