I have tried this a couple of times and it seemed to work for me: if you have a main character that you created in the beginning and a spouse or relative (adult) in the house then it is usually the person you let move in with you that does the majority of scolding your pets. So when you see on of your persons tasks is to scold one of them, switch to another person and then click on the person scolding and click on friendly. It will bring you to an option at the bottom of the list to tell them to stop doing something. Do it a few times when you see someone trying to scold them for doing nothing and it should work. Hope this helps!
