There are two forgers, one in each city, and each specializes in one of the armors, and yes they areused to make enchanted armor and weapons.

Yeah they are used to put enchantments on a specific Madness or Amber piece of armor or a weapon. You can find the orc kind of in the center of the Mania city for amber things and the loony dark elf in a shop in the Dementia city for madness things. When you get the armor or weapon made it's quality depends on your level I think. You can find amber in trees with gold showing or on those tree things(forgot name). You can find madness in a spiked deposit underground or on those one ugly monsters(again I forgot the name).

Yes matrices are for making maddness or amber items but with an enchantment put on them, maddnes matrices might be obtained from maddness ore deposites but I've not found one yet with a matrix in. I got all of my matrices from grummites but I think that amber matrices are harder to find than the maddness matrices if you want to know where to find the ore that goes with them here they are:

Amber: found in root tunnels in yellow hollowed tree stumps, possibly obtained from scalons(not sure only got 1 from a creature)

Madness: found in caves but in a ruin part in madness ore deposites they look like a big crater in the floor with spikes coming out of it can also be obtained from grummites found in mostly root tunnels.
