With halo 3 online play, do you need a wireless modem and adaptor for the 360? Or can you connect through a telephone connection? I just don't understand how to conect it up for online play?

You NEED a broadband connection. Then just connect your 360 to your modem using Ethernet cables. If you have a computer, then I suggest you get a Xbox Live compatible router (you can get a hub, but I highly recommend that you get a router instead) if you don't want to have to switch the cables every time you want to switch from browsing the Internet to playing on Xbox Live.
You can use either option. But I would advise in getting professional help by ringing up the xbox hot line or the phone number on the gold membership card.
Right you can eaither get a wierless thing for your 360 IF and only IF you have a wierless network to connect to oooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrr you can hook an ethernet cable to a router (wierless or non wierless) k hope I helped!!
