What is the safest, fastest way to beat level eight? Most importantly what weapons can I get on that level?

I like to use an Assault Rifle and Energy Sword combination. Assault Rifle for the Flood Hatchlings and Energy Sword for almost anything else. An Energy Sword to the face of a Flood Soldier (the big Flood that can kill you in just one hit) will kill him in one, rarely two hits. If you can't find/use an Energy Sword, a Shotgun works just fine. Save your Plasma, Spike, and Incendiary Grenades for the Flood that crawls up the walls. Also, make sure to avoid shooting/hitting the egg sacks. If you DO hit one of these egg sacks (and you will, eventually) Flood Hatchlings will come out of those egg sacks and swarm whoever burst the egg sack that they came from (they will usually ignore anyone else).
As for weaponry, there's a Human cashe right next to the level exit, which is an abandoned Pelican. It's located outside of a huge room with a lot of Flood. Just listen for a radio transmission and you will find it. You will find four Frag Grenades, a SMG, a Shotgun, a Rocket Launcher, and a Flamethrower. If you decide to pick up the Flamethrower, then be careful not to use it in close quarters or you will end up killing yourself very quickly. There's another Flamethrower further into the level. I forgot where it is exactly, but I remember that it's located in some tube-like area. Just look for a dead Human soldier (one that looks like the one of the soldiers that fly the Hornets). It's a bit out of the way, so you might want to cheak each path so you won't miss it.
Maybe naming the mission is easier.
You must be talking about Cortana. It depends on what difficulty your doing it on.
If it's on Normal, you can speed through it like eating pie.
If it's on Legendary, you might want to take your time. It took me like 2 and a half hours to get it finished. Weapons? Use whatever you find.
You can also look at the Halo 3 Exclusive SuperCheats Guide.
If you play through the level somewhere near the begging there is a crashed pelican. You can find a rocket launcher lying around near it which is extremely helpful on legendary.
Hi, my brother has been playing that for hours now! He is in the same place too!) my brother is really stuburn and wont let me play. Also, that ffc squall person is right, if you shoot the fire thingy, be carefull! My brother has killed himself 5 freakin times with that thing!

The mission 'Cortana'. First of all it depends on difficulty. And most important how good you are. Weapons? Get whatever you find. I personally hate that mission so I did it with someone on co-op.
Depends on the difficulty you are playing, as for a weapon, whatever you can find is better than nothing at all.
