What are these things??

I was playing the mission Halo and I found a secret spot where cortana would say "Where are you going?" then, "Wait, whats that?". A pillar opened up and there was a terminal. I read it and it didnt do anything. What are they?

The terminals are like journal entries from someone else, if you find all terminals theres an acheivement, go here for more info.

They're terminals. There are a handful of them spread through the game, and activating all of them (And waiting until the screen turns red and it switches to a new screen) will give your the acheivement "Marathon Man"

lost dude answered:

They're called the terminals, they have text from the forerunners in them, they kinda tell the story of the forerunners vs flood war, also activating all of them gets you the marathon man achevement

gigagunz answered:

You just found a terminal. There are about 10 of them throughout the game, and when you find them all you get an achievement. They also make for an interesting read if you've got the time
