You basically blow up one of the most important towns in the game. You can get a house, trade scrap metal, and trade, and do some quests if you keep it intact, so don't blow it up.

Well, when you blow Megaton up, Everything in Megaton dies including the bobblehead in Lucas Simms house ( Strength ) but when you do blow it up you get a WAY better house in Tenpenny Tower and 1000 negitive karma. If you don't blow up Megaton you can do Two quests, Trade and get a house with Mr Wadsworth who can give you purified water.

Well, before blowing it up into nothingness, do the quests Blood Ties and Wasteland Survival Guide. You can also trade scrap metal there for caps. When you blow it up, it is a beautiful sight, especially in HD. You get a nice suite in Tenpenny Tower. On your map, Megaton will no longer be there, but it will be called Megaton Ruins. When you go there, there will be some radiation, highest is 10 rads a second. You can't go into the ruins the last I knew.

After you blow up megaton you go to tenpenny towers and talk to the man that gave you the bomb to blow up the bomb and you can watch as megaton explodes into dust, afterwards you get a room at tenpenny towers.

It's... Uh, gone. Moira Brown will show up as a ghoul in Underworld, so don't worry about the Wasteland Survival Guide quest. But, yeah, Megaton is gone (I don't suggest blowing it up. You can get good money for scrap metal, and it looks cool and has some cool shops).

The town is turned into wreckage, you take a morality hit, and you no longer have access to it.

You lose a ton of karma you can no longer live in megaton all the missions that involve megaton(other then the wasteland survival guide)are failed and the rewards are some caps and a house in tenpenny tower
