3. What are Green Stars? 3333
==============================================================

Have you seen that faded green Launch Star in the Observatory? To be able
to use that Launch Star, you must collect all three Green Power Stars.
These Green Stars have been hidden amongst the galaxies where Mario
searches for Power Stars. Upon the collection of all three Green Stars,
the Green Launch Star becomes usable. It will take you to a
three-pronged planetoid that will allow you to reach the three Trial
Galaxies. The Green Power Stars count towards your total Power Star count.

==============================================================
4. What are the Trial Galaxies? 4444
==============================================================

The Trial Galaxies are a set of one star galaxies that have been known for
housing some of the greatest difficulty in the game. Most people will have
some trouble with at least one of them, so watch out. Each
of the three Trial Galaxies will reward Mario with a Power Star upon
completion. You can enter a Trial Galaxy by finding all three Green stars, and
then using the newly usable Green Launch Star in the Observatory. The Green
Stars and Trial Galaxies are essential factors in completing your Power
Star Collection.

==============================================================
5. Rescuing Luigi 5555
==============================================================

In order to be able to access the Battlerock Green Star, you first must
rescue Luigi from the Ghostly Galaxy.

"Luigi and the Haunted Mansion"

Begin by heading into the launch star on the bottom of the spaceship. On this
new planet with new Goombas, head to the right and spin the sharp-looking
rock. A starman will pop out. Go nuts with the enemies, and before it runs out,
run down the path you can see ahead. The starman will make it easy to get past
the Chain Chomp so you can enter the mansion.

Hit the switch near the door you just entered. This will trigger a light to
turn on. If you can lure the Boo into the light, it will be defeated. Run up
to the picture and a Boo will emerge from it. Once you lure it into the light,
a key will fall down. Collect the coins and star bits in this room if you wish,
then proceed through the door you just unlocked. Collect the golden star chips
inside the cube. They are not hidden or hard to get, so I wont list where they
are, although they will move around. Ground pound the mark on the roof to fall
into a library. Use the armp to walk onto the side and hit the switch to
trigger a mass of coins for you to collect using the sling stars. Head back
and jump into the launch star to move on.

You will now see Luigi crying for you on the other side of the bars. Jump down
and grab the key. To stop yourself from falling, use one of the pull stars to
pull yourself up. Inside the mansion, there are two Boos in the hall that you
can destroy. Grab the ? coin above the small set of stairs to reveal a Boo
Mushroom. First of all, repeatedly press A to float up to the ? coin above the
painting, to cause the 1-up to come out of it. Shake the wiimote as you head
through the bars. Be careful not to be hit by the light. When youre Boo
Mario, Boos will fall in love with you, so watch out for them too. Go
through the bars on the right side of the bookshelf, run into the light,
jump over the bookshelf with the spring and pry the Power Star from Luigis
grubby little hands.

Luigi will now take residence at the Garage. Three times throughout the
course of your adventure he will require your assistance in his pursuit of
the PowerStars. He will find a Green Star the second time he sends a letter
for your help.

==============================================================
6. Green Stars 6666
==============================================================

In this section, I will discuss (in-depth) how exactly to obtain the Green
Stars.

--------------------------------------------------------------
6.a. Locations 7777
--------------------------------------------------------------

Now, for all the people who don't want to scavenge through the guide, here is a
quick reference list for the locations of the three Green Stars.

1. Battlerock Galaxy, "Battlerock Barrage"- Receive letter from Luigi with
picture of him in a cage. Rescue Luigi from the cage.

2. Buoy Base Galaxy, "The Floating Fortress"- head through the warp pipe at the
bottom of the water. Free the Green Star from the cage.

3. Dusty Dune Galaxy, "Blasting Through the Sand"- feed Hungry Luma 20 star
bits. Find all Silver Star chips in the pyramid.

As I said, very brief. But at least you know where to find the Green Stars now.
Now I will tell you, in depth, how to retrieve these Green Stars. Basically,
I'll guide you through the whole level.

--------------------------------------------------------------
6.b. Battlerock Galaxy 8888
--------------------------------------------------------------

Select the mission "Battlerock Barrage".

You will begin on a series of metal discs. You will need to collect five blue
star ships on these discs to continue. The first is circling the first disc.
The second star chip is circling the third disc with a Goomba wearing a helmet
on it. The third is on the top and center of the disc with Mini-Topmen on it.
There is a crate underneath it, which will give you a coin if you break it. The
fourth is on the underside of the second last platform, with a Goomba wearing a
helmet on it. The fifth and final star chip is circling the last disc. You can
also grab the ? coin for a bunch of coins, but be fast as they will disappear.
The star chips will create two pull stars in the air, which will allow you
access to the launch star.

The launch star will take you to the underside of a metal disc with a goomba
wearing a helmet also underneath. On the topside there is a robot spring. Jump
on its head to be catapulted onto the disc above you. Spin the screw on the
topside to get it moving. This will also activate the cannons and the
electrical balls around your disc.

Dodge the cannon fire and head to the underside of your disc to avoid being
knocked off it by the obstacle. Head to the topside of your ship to avoid being
electrocuted. You can then either head back down to dodge the electrical
barrier, or you can backflip over it if you wish. Head to the topside if you
didn't jump over the electrical barrier and collect the ? coin for some star
bits. Again, either backflip over the barrier or head underneath to avoid the
fence. Now you will be forced to jump over an electrical wire. Either backflip
or head underneath your disc to avoid the barrier, and dodge the last round of
cannon fire to end your ride. Now, lure a Bullet Bill to the underside of the
saucer where the normal Power Star is. Trick it into crashing into the cage and
freeing Luigi. He will thank you with the first of the three Green Power Stars.

--------------------------------------------------------------
6.c. Buoy Base Galaxy 9999
--------------------------------------------------------------

Select the mission "The Floating Fortress".

Start by diving underwater, and find the cage near the bottom containing a warp
pipe. Lure a nearby torpedo into the path of the cage, granting you access to
the warp pipe. Get close enough to it and you will be sucked in. You will now
find yourself on the outer of the planet. Follow the path (don't collect the
coins, you may need them soon) and destroy the Goomba with a helmet. Watch out
for Bullet Bills! Now stand on the first platform from the center, and the
nearest Bullet Bill will spot you. Lure it past the circling, electric balls
and into the cage. This will free the Green Star inside. You have now earned
your second Green Power Star! If you get hurt while doing this it would be a
good idea to head back and grab those coins.

--------------------------------------------------------------
6.d. Dusty Dune Galaxy 1000
--------------------------------------------------------------

Select the mission "Blasting through the Sand".

By spinning all of the Pokeys, you should have at least 20 star bits. If not,
just remember that you will need 20 star bits soon for a Hungry Luma. Head into
the Launch Star that you just spawned and you will arrive on a platform next to
a ring with boulders moving around it. Head to the underside of this platform
(where there is another 10 star bits) and feed the Hungry Luma 20 star bits. It
will transform into a pyramid that you can reach by using the pink Launch Star.

Once inside the pyramid, the first thing you will probably notice will be the
mass amount of coins. These coins all lead to the 5 silver stars required
forming your Power Star. The locations of the silver stars are:

1. Inside a crystal that is right in front of you when you enter the pyramid.

2. Follow the path to the right, and step on the switch to move the sand. Keep
following the path up until you see a crystal. Smash it to receive your
second Silver Star. You will then reach the roof.

3. Head down the same path you just went up on. This time though, stay on the
left-hand side to find a crystal containing a Silver Star on your way down.
Head back up to the roof.

4. Head down the alternate path back to the bottom, immediately smashing the
crystal and claiming your fourth Silver Star.

5. Continue to head down the path until you are forced into a small gap. The
switch will activate again, so head straight upwards from your small safe-
spot until you find the last crystal containing the last Silver Star.

Make your way towards the bottom of the pyramid to claim your third and final
Green Star!

==============================================================
7. The Trial Galaxies 1212
==============================================================

On the three-pronged planetoid you arrive on (using the Green Launch Star),
there will be three Green Lumas. They will be situated at the three coloured
prongs on the planetoid. To enter a Trial Galaxy, speak to a Green Luma.

Green prong = Bubble Blast Galaxy
Blue prong = Loopdeswoop Galaxy
Orange prong = Rolling Gizmo Galaxy

I will now do my best to guide you through the treacherous Trial Galaxies,
although it is difficult to do so exactly.

--------------------------------------------------------------
7.a. Bubble Blast Galaxy 2323
--------------------------------------------------------------

"The Electric Labyrinth"

Okay, to begin with, you need to collect 5 yellow star chips using a bubble.

1. Top warp pipe- Jump into the bubble and grab the ? coin if you want. Avoid
the barriers as they might knock you into the electrical walls and head
upward to claim the first star chip. The sling star will return you to the
warp pipes.

2. Top-left warp pipe- Jump in the bubble, and make your way past the first
moving electrical wall. Grab the 1-up and some star bits if you want. Now
push yourself past a double set of electrical walls. Again, star bits await
you after clearing the obstacles. You will now find a circle of electrical
walls with two layers. Dodge the outer circle, and claim the star chip in
the inner circle if you want. Head forwards out of the circle and into the
sling star.

3. Bottom-left warp pipe- Once inside the bubble, time your run past the
flaming jets and collect the third star chip (hold your pump closer to the
bubble to increase speed and brake power). Head back to and around the
platform to find the sling star.

4. Bottom-right warp pipe- Head past the first electrical ball and collect
the star chip. Make your way upward; time your run past the six electrical
balls and into the sling star.

5. Top-right wrap pipe- Collect the ? coin, and follow the path of coins
around the mines. Once you reach it, collect the last star chip. Continue
following the path of coins until you reach the sling star.

For this first part of the level, timing is essential for everything. It's
probably where most people will go wrong on this one. Just remember that you
have time to make a decision on when to time your run past obstacles. Also,
the ? coins create a path of coins that you can follow to obtain the star
chip. Now head into the Launch Star to begin the second part of this level

Jump into the bubble and follow the arrow downwards. As soon as you start
heading right a bullet Bill will chase you. Your best bet is to trick it into
exploding on the cage. This will net you time and a 1-up. Continue to follow
the arrows until another Bullet Bill comes chasing after you. You can easily
avoid this Bullet Bill by timing a speedy run past it. Weave in and out of the
blocks and try to get the Bullet Bill to explode on them. If you can't, just go
as fast as you can. Blow yourself past the circular, moving walls and you will
find yourself heading past another Bullet Bill.

Make your way as fast as you can through the series of rectangular walls and
another Bullet Bill will pursue you. Try not to go too fast here, as the
electric wall comes up rather close. Upward is a series of mines and yet
another Bullet Bill. Squeeze in between the mines and at the bend another
Bullet Bill will chase you. From here on, it's a sprint to the finish line.
Just keep heading right as many Bullet Bills pursue you, and the path becomes
narrower. Once the path opens up, head around the block as fast as you can to
claim your well-deserved Power Star before the final Bullet Bill claims you.

During the beginning of this section, play it smart, not fast. Keep a level
head later on, and don't succumb to the pressure from the Bullet Bills. Stay
focussed and aware and this level will become a lot easier to handle.

--------------------------------------------------------------
7.b. Loopdeeswoop Galaxy 3434
--------------------------------------------------------------

"The Galaxy's Greatest Wave"

Remember Loopdeeloop Galaxy? If you haven't already guessed, this level is a
lot similar. You must complete another water course while riding a Manta Ray.
This level however, is much more difficult than Loopdeeloop. The overall path
is narrower, there is a giant loop, higher jumps, and some turns can be
pretty sharp.

Speak to Coach and he will inform you that you have 3 minutes to complete the
course. Okay, when I just completed this course, I got 01:59:58, a good minute
seconds from the time required to get the Power Star. All I did was tap the A
button fast, re-adjust my position and stay in the center of the course.
Therefore, this proves that you don't need to go very fast at all to complete
the course. Just in case you need help, I will walk you through the course.

Begin by rapidly tapping the A button and controlling your speed. You should be
going slow enough as to be able to collect the 1-ups prior to the bend. After
the bend, you should now be heading through a series of golden rings. Go down
the small jump (stay in the center of the path) and make your way through the
red rings. The path begins to get slightly narrower here, so I recommend you go
slower if you lack confidence, or stupidity. Grab the 1-up if you can, and
travel up the circular bend. The path should now be extremely narrow by the
time you pass through the blue rings (stay in the center, and keep controlling
your speed). The loop should be easier than it looks if you are controlling
your speed and position. After the loop, the path begins to open up, allowing
you more space. Keep a level head when going over the massive jump. Once you
land, head around the bend to greet the finish line, and a new Power Star!

--------------------------------------------------------------
7.c. Rolling Gizmo Galaxy 4545
--------------------------------------------------------------

"Gizmos, Gears and Gadgets"

This looks like fun doesn't it? Start off by collecting the star bits
surrounding you and use them to eliminate the Goombas ahead, so you won't run
into trouble while on the ball. Jump on top of the ball, and carefully make
your way across the narrow path. Collect the 1-up if you wish and then run over
the Goomba. Destroy the blocks by jumping at them with some momentum. Now lower
the bridge by doing the same thing. Jump into the hole and you will be
catapulted to a checked circle with coins. Fall down the hole and the rails
will take you to a new section.

I recommend you avoid the distractions here and make your way ver to the
bridge. Run over the surrounding Goombas if you need to, and carefully and
slowly make your way across the bridge. Collect the 1-up on the small gear, and
time your journey onto one of the large gear's pegs. Squash the Goomba, and
carefully time your run onto the platform when the dice block contracts. Make
your way across the yellow rectangle and onto the green gear. On the large
orange gear, are many Bob-ombs. If you run into them they will explode, sending
you a fair distance. I recommend you jump over all the Bob-ombs that you can,
and quickly jump onto the yellow gear.

Jump onto the red platform, but watch out, as the path is narrow and easy to
fall off. Once on the blue checkered circle, run over the Goomba and take a
breather if you wish. Jump onto the narrow green ramp and onto the rails to
trigger a series of jumps. The last jump will take you onto another set of
rails, which end on a large, orange gear. Now, time your journey across to the
yellow platform, and make your way past the revolving dice. Your jump onto the
last blue platform needs to be timed well and have some momentum to be able to
make it. Enter the hole to crack the sphere open. Now, just climb to the top of
the flagpole to collect your Power Star.

8. FAQ 5656
==============================================================

Q: I can't find a Green Star!?!
A: Look at section 3.a. Locations.

Q: When will Luigi send me a picture of him in Battlerock?
A: First of all, you have to rescue Luigi (see above) from the Ghostly Galaxy
(Luigi and the Haunted Mansion) and then several stars later, you will
need to rescue him from Good Egg Galaxy in a similar fashion. To trigger the
Battlerock mission, just do a few more missions.

Q: What is the faded launch Star in the Observatory for and when can I use it?
A: This Launch Star will allow you access to the three Trial Galaxies after
you have collected all three Green Stars.

Q: Does one Green Star unlock one Trial Galaxy?
A: No. All three Green Stars are required to unlock (all of) the Trial Galaxies.

Q: I went to Battlerock, but Luigi wasn't there!?!
A: First of all, check that you have received a picture of him in a cage
(pause, then letter icon) and follow my above instructions very carefully.

Q: I need help with another galaxy!
A: See the other FAQs and Walkthroughs.

==============================================================
9. Secrets/Unclockables 6767
==============================================================

PURPLE COIN MISSIONS
After you defeat Bowser in the center of the universe, you will unlock the
purple comet, which allows you to access the Purple Coin Missions.

RED (FLYING) STAR POWERUP
After you have unlocked the Gate, head inside. The red luma wants you to
collect 100 purple coins with the help of the Red Star powerup. After you
collect all of the coins, the red luma will give you a red Power Star and
grants you the power of using the Red Star powerup around the Observatory.

SECRET CHARACTER
After you have 120 Power Stars, talk to Rosalina in the Observatory and let her
take you to the center of the universe again. Defeat Bowser again and you will
not only receive a new ending clip as your 100% reward, but now you can play
as Luigi! Luigi is faster and jumps higher than Mario, but his traction is
worse (slips when he tries to stop).

VIEW YOUR DEATH COUNT
Once you collect all 120 Stars with Luigi, talk to Rosalina and she will take
you to the Grand Finale Galaxy. This galaxy is the Star Festival from the very
beginning of the game. Collect the 100 Purple Coins and talk to Mailtoad to
receive your Power Star. After completing the Grand Finale galaxy with Mario,
you can now see your death count (how many times you have died) when you
select your file.

STARTING BOOST AGAINST COSMIC MARIO
To get a starting boost when you are racing Cosmic Mario/ Luigi, hold forward
on the Nunchuk, then when the timer reaches 2, hold Z so that Mario crouches
into his starting position. As soon as the race starts, press A quickly and
Mario should turn yellow for a few seconds and also get a very handy boost.

HOMING GROUND POUND
To do a Homing Ground Pound, jump as you would for a normal Ground Pound,
but before you press Z to execute the move, shake the Wiimote so that Mario
spins. If you are close enough to the target, you will home in on it and hit
it. This attack homes in on various items and enemies.
