No you cannot play Wii sports online. At this stage the only game you can play online in USA and Australia is Mario Strikers: Charged (football).

Would be a great idea, but the only online game for the wii at the moment is mario strikers charged football.
Which at the moment is rubbish online, because it lags relly bad due to loads of people playing it.

No you can only play with people on your wii console. For example if you have 4 controllers 4 people can play and it can be a multiplayer showdown. Except in baseball and boxing only two players are allowed.
