Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time n64

The mini boss in Jabu Jabu's belly killed me and now I have searched every room to find Princess Ruto and I can't find her anywhere. Ive reset the game over a dozen times. Some people said to use a wooden box in a different room but I can't go take the boxes through the "doors." Please help. I've been stuck for weeks.

Enter Lord Jabu-Jabu with fish. Shoot switch on ceiling in first room with slingshot. Second room has path on left side with 2 wooden crates, with platform going to lower level (ignore for now).
Main room with holes in floor is where you first meet Princess Ruto, and she falls down a hole.
She'll stay down there until you talk to her, or until you bring her back to the main room with holes.
Follow her down hole and carry her through nearby door, up to upper level.
Once you are back in the main room with holes, she'll re-spawn in this location now.
Take Ruto through north door, with the floor switches and parasitic tentacles blocking your way. Go right and place her on the yellow floor switch. Go inside, defeat 4 Stingers and get the Boomerang.
Ruto will re-spawn back at main room.
Retrieve her, but this time go left and use her on blue floor switch. Kill tentacle with Boomerang and get Dungeon Map. Exit room and go to room to left. Kill the bubble enemies within 40 seconds (Boomerang) to get Compass.
Ruto is still hanging around blue floor switch.
Go to room near yellow floor switch to right and kill tentacle inside.
Go to room north (from centre) and kill jellyfish enemies and tentacle.
Go back to main room. There are 5 holes in the floor. Coming from the entrance, Ruto dropped down the right one. Drop down the left-most one, to land on the highest plateau below. Kill 2 Golden Skulltulas with Boomerang and enter nearby door.
Throw Ruto (no longer need her) onto platform in front and fight mini-boss.
Get on platform (that rises up) and exit room. Use Boomerang to stun jiggling blobs of flesh and go to next room. Jump across to platform that descends, and now you are back in the second room with 2 wooden crates. Grab one and put it on blue floor switch and enter door.
Climb vines in next room and use Boomerang to hit ceiling switch. Enter next room and fight boss monster.
