For DS you have voice chat. On the Wii, more spicificly and presicly SSBB, you cant. That was replaced by puting in coments when you use a taunt.

You can't talk, but you can put messages for seperate taunts when playing. This only works when playing with friends, though.

There is no voice-chat for any wii game as of now
Come this november they will be adding voice chat,but I'm not sure if it will work with previous games
