The item you want to use is one of the "cheat" items in my mind. The reason why they "cheat" is it promotes a first tier class, like wind mage, myrmidon, priest or the like to their next class. So using it on Leonardo, who must be over level 10, will promote him to a Sniper at level 1.
Easy way to level up, but you don't get any nice stats while doing this. I suggest only using the item if you really want the character fast and don't care too much about the usability.
