If your plane is equipped with bombs you need to make sure before you drop them that you are far enough away from enemy ground units. If you are not you need to gain more altitude before you start a bombing dive. When you commence a dive you need to wait till your target is within the target indicator and it has turned white before dropping your bombs. Doing this will ensure that you have maximised your damage output.
