Avoid Stalling

Don't overheat and stall the engine by overdoing the the boost button. Gain speed gradually to prevent this form happening.

Complete Missions

Focus on completing the missions as soon as they become available as they're a good way of earning money to upgrade your plane.

Join a Squadron

You can earn some decent bonuses by joining a Squadron, this is the game's equivalent of guilds and enables you to stick to a group.
