Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer's Legacy Combat Guide

Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer's Legacy is a rougelike game that has permadeth and sparse access to healing. This basically means before you engage in combat you need to carefully assess whether fighting is worth the risk. Take a look at our Combat Guide to get help in the game.

The enemies that you encounter in Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer's legacy are not easy to defeat, many of them have been designed to be overwhelming. It is therefore essential that you weigh up the risk and reward before you tackle them. If you decide to engage in combat you will need to have a good defense and keep in mind that fights are won with timing and positioning.

In order to survive combat encounters it is essential that you use your shield to block melee and ranged attacks. Providing you have your shield equipped as your secondary weapon you will be able to use it. To parry a blow you simply have to face the attacker. You can also parry melee attacks the same way with swords and daggers, but you must remember that once you have done so with these particular weapons you will not be able to do so again for a short while. This basically means if you are trying to fight an enemy without a shield you will need to step out of the way of any attack.

When you have a weapon equipped you can attack as often as you like, but you must keep in mind that when you attack you are vulnerable, so it is crucial that you time your attacks carefully.

Swords are used to attack and parry. After a parry it can be used to perform a special riposte attack.

Daggers can be used to attack and parry. When wielded in your left hand they can also be thrown to enemies at a larger range.

Axes can be used to hook shields, a shield blocking an attack from an axe will be disabled for a short while. When equipped in
your left hand an axe can also be thrown.

Spears have a very good reach which makes them particularly effective. When used with two hands the reach is increased slightly. You cannot use a shield or a parrying weapon at the same time.

Javelins are thrown over short distances. You can carry up to 3 javelins for a few volleys before switching to a sidearm such as a sword or an axe.

Clubs are sidearms which can be used to bludgeon an opponent.

Bows are used in two hands to fire arrows over a distance. Arrows though are short in supply.
