This game quickly won me over the first time I played it when I was little. The extensive story, massive amounts of things to do, and clever secrets kept me coming back for more even today. Not to mention the amazing soundtrack! Who could resist standing in a dungeon and just listening?
The graphics really showcased what the SNES was capable of. The light-hearted color palette for the Light World, and the Dark Worlds... Well... "dark" atmosphere was excellently done. You really got a feel for what your supposed to be doing, which makes you want to keep on playing and exploring.
I think all Zelda games have a great sound and atmosphere, but I think A Link to the Past has one of the best soundtracks in the series. I always find myself dead in the Dark World because I'm bobbing my head to the overworld music and not paying attention to the Hinox's throwing bombs in my face :/
I find it easy to maneuver link around Hyrule, and it's a very fun experience. Also, I really like the walking speed of Link! =D That might be a strange thing to like, but it's not too fast, and it's not too slow. It gives you just enough time to take in your environment which can lead to finding more secrets. Aside from just moving around, the different items work well too.
This game is timeless in my opinion. I can easily pick it up and play through it any time of day and not get bored. Whenever I play through the game, I always have an "a-hah!" moment in a dungeon because of their complexity. Its just a satisfying experience when you complete a difficult puzzle, and that feeling never seems to change =D
From the expansive overworld to the interesting relationships between characters, it's one of the best games I've ever played. No matter how many times I've played through it, the game never gets old. Theres just so much to do. Not only is there alot to do, but you enjoy doing it too.
