Introduction

Nintendo has once again launched one of the top games in the world, ranked in the top five WII games.

In this particular game, you use various characters to knock the opponent off the screen. There are various ways to play, including the following:

Classic: This is what every Super Smash Bros. Game has. You simply fight one special match, then another special match, then another until you reach "The Hands", the main bosses of the Classic mode.

Stadiums: First introduced in Super Smash Bros. Melee, these are little microgames used to collect some trophies and even some characters. Some examples are:

1) Home Run Contest~A short ten second game where you give a sandbag as much damage as you can, then using the Homerun Bat, smash it as far as you can. You can earn multiple trophies and stickers.

2) Taget Smash~ First seen in the original Super Smash Bros., you simply smah all of the little targets in a certain time period. If you fall off the stage, your points and earnings are based on how many you smashed in the time you played. You can earn multiple trophies.

3) Multi-Man Brawl~ AAAUUUGGGHHH!!! Twisted being are everywhere! Multiple beings imitating random characters approach for you to knock out. You can play against 10 beings, 100 beings, three minutes of endless, fifteen minutes of endless, cruel (Very Hard), and perfect endless. Character, trophies and stickers available.

There is also the main story, The SubSpace Emmisary, which is a very lengthy part with a grand storyline. Unlike previous SSB games, you can actually mix and match the special brawls! Want to play 300 damage AND metal characters? Go ahead!

Graphics

Graphics score: 9.0

Pros and Cons (Overview)

Pros: Characters are as good as in their actual games, and for the characters with games on older systems, grand remastering of the characters. Most of the items have gone to 3D. Stages have gone to mostly 3D. Very few Graphics glitches can be seen.

Cons: There are still a few things that could use the 3D capability of the WII (Although some are fine as is). It would be nice if when a boss is defeated you cannot walk through it.

Overall, there is very great use of the graphics that the WII can supply. The Gamemasters did a wonderful job with redesigning the characters, and the bosses are awesome. The few things that could have the 3D effect (IE: Wolf's Reflector) are well enough hidden that unless you are ready to take a picture, you won't notice it.

Sound

Sound score: 9.6, round to 10

Pros: The sound for the stages were great! You could even change the music each stage had. The sound effects were not overlooked at all, which gave a more realistic feel. The soaring of the characters as they flew offstage alerted you if you didn't see anybody flying, and even the cliffhanging sound was great.

Cons: There were a few sound glitches with the characters here and there (IE: Using Ganon's super punch, if struck he would still be as if not struck). Although multiple songs allowed per stage, you are still limited to what song goes where. Melee stages only have one song.

Overall, the sound was just another great work.

Gameplay

Online Gameplay: 7.3
Standard Gameplay: 9.7

Online Pros: When playing with a friend, the system is almost totally lag free. Anything done is almost immediate. You could download stages, pictures and replays from other players, and could use any character earned. There are also multiple ways to play with friends, even the stadiums! When without a friend, you were able to bet on a match as you would in real life, earning however many coins you bet.

Online Cons: Custom stages were not to be used online. Graphics were a bit less than that of standard play. Online brawl with anyone almost always used four characters, as you are unable to filter the number. Sometimes intense lag playing with anybody.

Standard Gameplay Pros: The story mode was very long and really sucked you into the storyline. The remastered Classic mode was brilliant. Large number of game modes and over 30 characters! Very many stages, even some Melee stages. You can make your own stage customized in almost endless possiblities. All of the characters were excellent. Any earned music could be used on custom stages.

Cons: The last 20% of the SSE was the Great Maze, which you basically must go through twice. Although you can save replays, you cannot watch them there on the spot. You must save them, then go through a series of menus to watch it. Artifacts on custom stages cannot have things one unit above them (IE: A pillar cannot have anything on top of it).

Lastability

Perfect score!

Pros: This game is always great, even after you beat story mode, there is always something to do that will entertain you for hours. You can save over 45 files for story mode, so you can restart the adventure without having to erase your data. It seems there is always something to do.

Cons: NOTHING!

This game is one of the longest lasting games there is.

Overall

Overall: 9.6/10

There is just so much to do, so many characters, such a good storyline, and countless more things that can and will happen in this game. It has undoubtedly earned it's spot in the top five WII games, and is definately worth all of that fifty dollars.

There's not much more to explain.

Final Score: 96%
