This is definitly one of the greatest games in history, second only to the orginal Sm64 itself. Unfortunately, I was deeply dissapointed in the "amazing roof of the castle". It was so boring. I was also very dissapointed in the lack of good action replay codes. What happened to the old gameshark codes like: moon jump, play as a goomba, all those codes that really bent reality in the game. And now they're all gone. :P
Generally, the graphics are very good and a nice upgrade from 64 to DS. But... Who can resist that classic polygonic Mario. He was a gem of a classic!. So I didn't really like the upgrade for Mario. But the upgrade for bowser was great!!!. I always hated that old version of bowser. Too scaly.
Sound was good. No complaints. Um...... Nothing else to say...... Moving on
The gameplay was very good. There were some things that I think could be inproved. Like some bosses (goomboss, chief chilly, big bob-omb), well, they were all obsessed with moustaches!. Also, the roof was a big letdown. Only a power flower/wing cap and a bunny for luigi that just gave me a double of a mini-game I already had. No invincible triple jump, no 100 lives. :P But everything in the middle is awesome. Kindof like the yummy peanut butter center of a Reese's Peanut butter cup. Mmmmm... Peanut butter.....
Generally, this game will last you quite a while. Even if you know where every star is and how to get it, the hunt for the 8 white glowing bunnies will keep you on for a while. Of course, if you play it 24/7, it's quite possible that you'll burn through the game. Also, when you have everything, the game can get quite boring. :P
Yes this is a gem of a game. I personally prefer the 64 version. But that's just me. There were of course those minor flaws that I mentioned earlier that were not in the 64 version. I miss those reality bending gameshark codes that I have on my 64 version.
