How to Complete the Into the Unknown Mission in Starfield

  • Recruit Andreja

The Constellation mission in Starfield called 'Into the Unknown' plays out across multiple planets and starts by tasking you with searching for artifacts. Once you have gathered the required artifacts and brought them back to the Lodge in New Atlantis you will be able to recruit Andreja who is a Constellation member.

  • Recruiting Andreja

  • Land on Procyon III

In the next part of the 'Into the Unknown' mission, you will need to use your scanner to track distortions. In order to follow distortions on the scanner you need to watch for radio interference and follow those disturbances. Doing this will take you to Procyon III and when you land on the surface of this ice planet you will be close to the anomaly you have been tracking. To reach it you will have to leave your ship and follow the distortions on foot.

  • Using your Scanner

Bringing up your Scanner will enable you to see points of interest that include resources and distant points on the planet that warrant investigation. Ignore these for the moment and slowly with your scanner out start to spin around in a 360-degree circle. When you do this the outer circle of your scanner will begin to distort, and the colors along the edges of the circle will become darker in places when you face in a particular direction. The more pronounced the distortion or darkening, the more likely you are to be facing in the right direction of the anomaly.

  • Getting the Artifact

  • Finding the Anomaly

To pinpoint the anomaly you simply continue in the direction the darkening lines indicate. The anomaly itself will be located in the Eta Temple that you will be able to see in the horizon. Continue following the distortions on the Scanner so you head towards the two doors that are at the base of the temple. The crackling sound of your Scanner will increase in severity as you get closer to the temple. When you get near enough to the two doors of the temple your objective will automatically change to 'Investigate the Source of the Anomaly'.

  • Finding the Anomoly

  • Investigating the Temple

Go through the two doors so that you are inside the temple. There you will find an array of rings that rise up out of the ground in the center of the room. Your objective now is to use your boost back to maneuver yourself around and gather the rings which will be emitting glowing sparks by passing through them.

Once you have been through enough of them the spinning rings in the center of the room will explode with light and form a stable circle. If you now fly through the circle a powerful vision of the universe will be revealed. You will then be placed outside the temple where you can now use the power Anti-Gravity Field. Now use fast travel and make your way back to the Lodge on Jemison to complete the mission and get your reward which is 9500 credits, 3x Addichron and 3x Medipack. You will allso start the new quest: Power From Beyond.

How to Fix the 'Into the Unknown' Bug

It has been reported by players that there is a bug in the 'Into the Unknown' Constellation mission that will prevent you from following the distortions with your Scanner. In order to fix this bug you need to go into orbit and select the landing zone anomaly. This is because there are two landing zones right next to each other, and you must pick the correct anomaly one for the quest to work correctly. After that, you can follow distortions on the scanner in Starfield as intended by the quest objectives.
