Here is a rundown of our Top Tips for Beginners to this game. We'll keep this page updated as we discover other helpful things to share.
We have also created a series of other tips pages for each section of the game.
1) Focus your hits on one character at a time.
Who this should be really depends on who is in the opposing team and at what stage the fight is at.
If you are facing a team with tank (eg Chewie) and a Healer (eg Jedi Consular) you should be deciding to take out one of these guys first. The obvious choice is the Healer BUT Chewie (and others) have a taunt ability which forces you to hit them and not other members of their team, so if you are smashing away at the healer, then Chewie taunts the healer can probably heal both of them before you can kill either (this is not always the case though, especially as you level up).
In the beginning stages especially if I am faced with a tank that taunts and a healer, I prefer to just focus on taking out the tank first and then dealing with the healer second, after that the team will probably crumble especially if it has no way to restore power.
2) Have a Tank and a Healer in Your Team
In the beginning of the game you definitely want to have one of each of these two units in every team. For the Light side this would generally mean Chewie and Jedi Consular and for the Dark Side, initially this will mean Royal Guard and Talia who has the ability to drop her own power to strengthen the team.
3) Take note of your character's special abilities and discover the best time to use them.
For example if you have a healer, you want to wait for the optimum time before using his ability. This is not when your team is redlining - It's when your healer can just about max out your whole team.
But it is not always the case you can have perfect timing, sometimes the heal ability should be used to save a member of your team, or in anticipation of an attack that will wipe out a member of your team.
Later in the game you may unlock characters that can hit an enemy with immunity - This is great to use on a healer that you may be focused on killing as he will not be able to heal himself with this de-buff hit on him.
Some characters also heal on making strikes, or critical strikes or killing strikes, pay attention to these so you can make the correct move to use this healing function at the right time.
4) Kill the weaker characters first.
In some battles you will be faced with one super strong character and a whole load of their minions that are often a lot weaker. It is usually best to kill the weaker characters first so they will have fewer attacks per turn.
Focusing on a character that is super hard to kill will just mean that the weaker characters will stay alive and be able to attack you more.
5) Learn what all the symbols above the characters mean when in battle.
The first thing to learn is that red is bad and green is good. Apart from that, you should press and hold down each symbol so you can see the effect and maybe act on it.
1) Try to Keep a Fresh Healer to enter the next Battle
If you are able to, keep one healer back from entering the initial fight, incase you squad is damaged a lot and need to go to the next battle with that damage. Adding a new healer into the second for the next battle will give you a better chance to restore your team.
1) Spend your power ups wisely
While it is probably a good time to upgrade all members of your team evenly, how you spend your ability materials tokens is a different matter. For me, I use Chewie a lot, especially for his taunt and restore abilities so I have used much of my first lots of ability tokens to raise the levels of these special powers. Reducing the cooldown time, by going through his upgrade stages, so I can use these powers again has helped me no end in battles.
2) Use all your game energy
Your game energy gets restored over time, and there are numerous ways to get more energy, such as via Daily Activities or by levelling up. Using your energy and Sim cards allows you to go back to previous battles (that you have completed with 3 stars) and reply these instantly and you will gain the rewards for that battle. If you focus on the hard battles, this will give you a chance to give you shards.
3) Upgrade Your Tank and Healer
In the beginning of the game your tank and healer and the most essential characters to get through the initial battles, make sure they are at the highest level that they can be.
1) Try to log in every day and complete as many daily task as you can
This is the best way to pick up a good stash of coins, xp and sim cards for the game. The tasks are nothing too challenging usually and are fun to play through.
2) Check Achievements It actually took me about a week before I checked the Achievements menu! Little did I realise that I had amassed an absolute ton of rewards. The game is very generous in this respect and the achievements, like the daily tasks are not too challenging. You'll probably complete them without even realising!
3) Check your Allies List Regularly And clear out anyone that no longer seems to be playing the game or advancing any more. You can only have a maximum of 35 allies.
