Introduction

All I can say about this game is wow. This has got to be one of the greatest games I have ever played, no doubt in my mind. But in truth, the only reason I picked this game up is because Soul Calibur 2 was great as well. So really the whole series is awesome. This game has a wide array of characters, weapons, costumes (including the ability to change the colors of them), arenas, battle modes, and unlockable items. This games greatest feature has got to be the Chronicles of the Sword mode, where you create your own main character and battle in 20 different areas in a war. The next best thing is the Character Creation. Once you have all the classes, armor, and faces, you'll have well over 2,000 different combinations to try out. There are many different hair styles armors clothes and accesories, including 11 different classes to choose from. This game offers great graphics, great sound, incredibly long lastability, and the gameplay overall is wonderful. I hope you decide to pick this game up after reading my review, it's well worth it!

Graphics

These graphics are simply astounding. From the characters stance, to their weapon, and all their fluidous movements, it's all great. The opening scene is without a doubt the second greatest graphics I've ever seen, the best being the Super Onimusha cutscene in Onimusha Dawn of Dreams. But really, you will NEVER find better in-game graphics than you will with Soul Calibur III. When the characters are talking in cut-scenes, the lips movements almost perfectly match the words. But one thing I find off is the fact that the cut-scenes graphics (excluding the opening scene) are actually a bit less detailed than the battle graphics. If you don't believe me, look for yourself. But I assure you, you will NOT be disappointed with these graphics. It's almost an equivalent to the PS3. I guarantee you no one will tell you they don't like Soul Valibur III's graphics.

Sound

This game offers near perfect sound, and I guarantee no one will tell you differently. There are only certain points where the sound is off, like before the last battle with Zasalamel (in any characters story) the sound takes a couple seconds to kick in after the scene begins. But this is only one of very few sound problems I noticed. The only other problem is that the words aren't exactly perfect with the characters mouths. But can we really expect them to be? However, the voices are great, no matter where you are. Whether it be in battle or in cut scenes. And if an arena had a lot of background noise, it actually kinda muffles out the characters voices and the clash of steel (or whatever you're using) clashing. Once again, this is an aspect of the game that will NOT disappoint you. And if anyone tells you otherwise, they need to be slapped. I hope you enjoy this games beautiful sound as much as I do, it really adds to the reality of the game.

Gameplay

The gameplay of Soul Calibur III is simply awesome. There are a bunch of different modes to play. There's Tales of Souls, Chronicles of the Sword, Practise, Tutorial, Quick Play, Missions, Vs. Standard, Vs. Special, Vs. Competition (Tournament and League) and regular Competition (Tournament and League). No matter what mode you play, you'll have fun. There's also five or six different difficulty levels, so don't be afraid that the battles will be too hard. Plus there are many different characters to use, so you can master any one of them. You can even create your own character and master them. So really what I'm saying is that there's a wide variety of modes to play, and many different characters you can play them with. The gameplay in this game is just awesome. And in addition to the many characters, they all have a huge array of moves you can practise and master in the practise mode. I hope you have as much fun with this game as I do.

Lastability

This game has pretty must infinate lastability, because it takes near forever to unlock every weapon, armor, accessory, character, and battle mode. And with all the modes, you'll be playing for ages trying to beat them all. So when you're thinking to yourself "hmm I wonder if this game is long enough?", I hope you'll think of my review, and me telling you, THIS GAME LASTS A LONG LONG LONG TIME!

Overall

I give this game a definate 9.9/10. The only flaw in the small sound displacement. I hope anyone reading this review will be swayed to buy this game, because It is one of the best games ever! Namco really outdid themselves with this game, and I hope they come out with a Soul Calibur 4. I'm sure if they did it'd be a best seller in no time. So when you're thinkin' of what you want for Christmas this year, remember. Soul Calibur III.
