How do you get different color Yoshi's WITHOUT having to repeat star stages after losing them?

Well the star stages are only where you can get them so there really is no other way to get a colored Yoshi anywhere else.

If you completed each stage both ways and need a yoshi (I prefer blue overall) then feed him until he grows and press start and select. If you are playing two players then it will use your turn. Blue yoshi is also found in three stages in the game by taking any color yoshi and getting the super wings to the sky and just dropping back down. (blue yoshi can fly with any turtle shell and with blue yoshi makes star world a breeze and you don't have to get any pows.) happy flying

there is a glitch in vanilla dome 4 at the beginning, there is a large platform go to the right edge or the platform I prefer using a cape go to the edge spin jump off of Yoshi and spawn the mushrum and despawn Yoshi at the same time. if time it correctly, when you finish the level or start select you will have a red Yoshi. this won't work if you dieGuest answered:
There is another way to obtain a red or blue Yoshi in "Top Secret Area". I don't remember how. But when you do it right, in "Top Secret Area" depending on which items you grab like two feathers, then hit the middle block for the Yoshi will come out blue. If you grab both Fire Flowers you can get Red Yoshi
