In SINoALICE a Nightmare is a type of monster you can equip to your character job/grid just like armours, and can be summoned in battles to aid allies and cripple opponents by increasing the effectiveness of their weapons, SP or HP recovery, or some special mechanics like resisting fatal blows. Check out our What are Nightmares guide to find out more about them.
Only a single Nightmare can be summoned per battle, and once summoned, the other players cannot summon that Nightmare for the rest of the fight. A Nightmare's usage will vary depending on their skills so it is important that you communicate between allies in order to outsmart enemies and best utilise a Nightmare's abilities.
As you would expect, the rarer a Nightmare the better its stats and performance in battles. Listed below are the different types of Nightmares categorized by its skill. Keep in mind that a Nightmare might have a different skillset for Story mode and Colosseum so be sure to check them before using.
• Elemental
Gives increased effect to weapons of a certain element.
• Buff
Buff allies’ particular stats.
• Debuff
Debuff enemies' particular stats.
• Skill Increase
Gives increased effect to particular weapons regardless of element.
• Skill Decrease
Decreases the effect of particular weapons of enemies regardless of element.
• Rate Increase
Increases the chance of allies’ certain skill to proc.
• Rate Decrease

• SP

The Story skill of Nightmares is designed for PVE usage and will be simpler than the Colosseum skill of Nightmares which are devised for PVP usage weapons which have two skills (normal Colosseum skills and Colosseum aid skills).
