Protect Magic Casters
Magic casters in SaGa Scarlet can singlehandedly turn a battle in your favour using a powerful spell. Magic though takes a couple of turns to cast so it is recommended that you have a defensive formation or another party member using a Protect Skill on hand to help the caster survive the battle while the magic is cast.
Upgrade your Gear
Using blacksmiths to upgrade your gear is an easy way to make your character more formidable in battles. Furthering the rank of your gear will increase the strength of the gear the blacksmith can forge for you. Some of the materials needed for the the best upgrades can be difficult and time-consuming to obtain.
Increase your Weapon Skill Levels
It is important that you increase your Weapon Skill level whenever possible as it not only determines the amount of damage you deal the enemy but also affects the damage you recieve when that weapon is equipped.
Increase your HP
In Saga: Scarlet Grace the HP of all the members in your party increases with the total number of battles. Characters that have less HP than other party members will gain more HP at the end of a battle. This means that the characters in your party that will have the higher HP will be those that are active and take a lot of damage.
As with the members of your party the strength of enemies also increases with the total number of battles. You can prevent new events triggering that would boost the enemies' stats by grinding at the same place to raise your HP. This strategy is particularly useful when you are experiencing problems getting past a difficult boss.
Equip Roles for Bonus Effects
A 'Role' can be eqipped to any one character at a time for a wide variety of bonus effects. There are two types of roles: unique ones certain characters have from the beginning and ones everyone can acquire if a certain combination of skills has been sparked.
Restore Life Points
Characters that runs out of Life Points (LP) will not be able to participate in battles. It is advised that you prevent this happening by taking a character that is running low on Life Points out of the active party formation and into reserve so they can be restored (1 LP per 2 battles).
