Rugby 08 is pretty much a rugby union game which is enjoyable regardless of whether or not you follow the sport. It has several different rugby tournament such as The Henicken Cup( called European Cup in-game) the Tri-Nations, Six Nations, Guiness Premiership, Super 14, World League and the 2007 Rugby World Cup. You can also do challenges which unlock you footage of previous World Cups. They name some teams differently to their actual name such as Cardiff Blues (known as Cardiff in game) and Ospreys ( known as Neath-Swansea in-game).
The graphics are decent, nothing special but they are not bad. You can make out their faces but in a game like this the graphics are not a big deal. As long as you can see the players moving then it doesn't really matter as the graphics don't really affect the gameplay.
Rugby 08 has a very good soundtrack. It has a good couple of songs to pick between. My personal favorite is "Pale Blue Eyes" by the Hushpuppies and The song "The Bang" by Benny Butler is also quite good. The theme song really suits the opening sequence.
As I said before it's gameplay is very enjoyable and is not as complicated as I thought it would be. Even if you don't follow rugby it is very easy to understand. You can literally pick it up and start playing as the tutorial is very good and they explain every thing you would need to know from throwing a pass to scoring a drop goal.
Rugby 08 will last a while as some of the tournaments are long and you have to beat them on every difficulty beat the game 100%. There are also challenges to do. But when you beat the game fully, it would get pretty boring, especially to play own your own.
Overall it's a great game and I would suggest buying it. I got mine pre-owned but I'm not sure if they still make the game but it is worth buying. I could see why people would trade it in as it is not very challenging (on the highest difficulty they game only moves a bit faster, you choose where you take your kicks and it is harder to kick) but I wouldn't trade mine in. Thanks for reading my review.
Super Luigi.
