To be honest, I took a long time to discover how this is done but the trick is to either get a very fast player and get to the try line far ahead from any other players and then simply, stop running and press X. But this is not the easiest way as I recently discovered that you can break off a maul ( O or square ) and press X to bend down and score. Also because it's a maul you are protected quite well making it hard to get tackled.
