Listed below are several Beginners Tips and Tricks which will help you in Punishing: Gray Raven.
Start with Two S-Rank Heroes
As with most gacha games it is important that you get good characters early on as they will impact your performance in the challenges you encounter. To guarantee getting decent characters to start the game there is a rerolling process which allows you to continue pulling from the gacha until you are satisfied with the characters you get on your starting roster. Rerolling in Punishing: Gray Raven is not easy as it only becomes accessible after clearing the first chapter of the campaign, and this is comprised of 12 stages. Punishing: Gray Raven provides new players an S-Rank ticket that lets you choose your first S grade hero from among 5 choices, and by rerolling it is possible to have a starting roster with two S-Rank characters. Listed below are the S grade heroes you can choose from.
- Kamui: Tenebrion
- Karenina: Ember
- Liv: Luminance
- Lee: Entropy
- Nanami: Pulse
To avoid the chance of getting duplicates from the Base Member Recruit banner. It is a lot safer to get your first S-Rank via this banner first, then use the S-Rank Construct Pick to get your second S-Rank.
Follow the Story
Punishing: Gray Raven has a simple and engaging story that will immerse you into the background of its world. It is important that you focus on progressing through the main campaign, as completing the stages enables you to earn valuable basic resources and XP for each character you take into battle. The campaign has set objectives which you need to fulfill to earn star points and you need to make your priority clearing the level so you can move forward and unlock additional features in the game which are based on milestones reached and then once your team has grown stronger return and replay the stages to earn the stars that you missed.
Build a Balanced Team
Unlike other gacha games there are not a lot of characters to collect to begin with but those that are available come with lots of skills and unique traits. Ideally you want S grade characters in your team, but considering the low probability of securing these characters you will probably have to choose among the A and B rank heroes to form your starting trio. It is recommended that you put together a balanced team, which consists of an attacker, a tank, and a support hero. You will most likely pick up at least one character from each type of hero from your first x10 gacha pull. If you put together a synergistic team you can increase the effectiveness of your heroes, in order to do this tap on the 'Details' button on the character page. Then tap the 'Recommended Partner' button at the lower right side of the details to see who their ideal partners are.
Take Advantage of Novice Missions
There are a set of special mission called the Novice Missions that you can play within your first 7 days of Punishing: Gray Raven. Take advantage of these missions to rack up on cogs and black cards. You can also earn special activity points which can be used to unlock additional rewards that includes 5-star Memories, a 5-star weapon, and a costume.
Invest in ATK Memories
Make sure you do not spend to many resources on Memories early in Punishing: Gray Raven. You will find that most of the game's 5-star Memories or lower are outclassed in the late game so only focus on upgrading the 6-star Memories that you obtain. When choosing which Memories to level up it is recommended that you focus on the Memories on the bottom row first (slots 4-6) as these Memories influence your ATK stat which is particularly useful for clearing stages.
Complete Missions for Extra Rewards
You should be able to accumulate a decent amount of resources and EXP from completing chapter stages and from the extra rewards you can earn from completing chapter objectives. Keep in mind that the resource costs grow along with each character, so you may not have enough for your trio of heroes. Punishing: Gray Raven provides missions that allows you to claim more rewards by completing specific objectives. There are four types of missions available: daily missions, weekly missions, story missions, and event missions.
Claim Achievement Rewards
Achievements in Punishing: Gray Raven are basically milestones that you reach through progression of the game. These include battles in the campaign stages, construct and weapon grade collections, and enhancement levels reached. These targets are always available for you to accomplish, and you can take as much time as you want trying to complete each objective in order to claim their reward.
Save Black Cards for Event Summons
Event summons tend to give you much higher chances to obtain specific characters. Try not to spend all your Black Cards before on the normal gacha (or weapon gacha), it is far more beneficial to hold onto these cards for the limited Event gachas which are only available for a couple of days.
