I suggest you go through these areas then: 2 5 10 11.
The problem areas are areas 10 and 5, area 5 being the worst. It helps a lot if you can obtain any armour set with the skill attribute 'backpacking' as this helps to run a lot faster when carrying large, heavy items.
If you can get your hands on either power juice or mega juice, then I suggest you use them for this quest, as they are extremely usful, and they make the quest much easier to complete. They basically stop you stamina from decreasing for a period of time, so you can constantly sprint.
Other than that, there isn't much you can do, but run. If you encounter the Genedrome before you mine your ore, I suggest you kill it. It can be annoying when it is following you when you have the sootstone ore with you. Take with you potions and extra pickaxes, so you can attempt it more than once, should you break you first lot of ore.
To be honest, there really isnt much you can do with these sort of gathering quests.
You just have to grin and bare it. It's stressfull and annoying but trust me when you complete this, you get the heros blade from the stone. Yea, the one at the back of the house.
That is depending on wether you killed the rathalos on urgent and if you done all of the other quests in the sootstone ore class.
