With the exception of the Blue bird, all the birds in Angry Birds Star Wars are given new Star Wars powers that have not been seen in any previous Angry Bird game, some of which are upgraded as the game progresses further. The Han Solo bird for example has a blaster that fires off three laser rounds and the Jedi Luke Skywalker bird has a blue lightsaber that swipes and slices structures in an arc-shape.
