Pokemon Yellow Wiki

Latest update by Warrior13 on Dec 10th 2013

Released in 1998 for Game Boy Color outside of Japan and for the original Game Boy in Japan, Pokemon Yellow is a special sequel to Pokemon Red and Blue, and is part of the Gen I series. Yellow stands out for several reasons, more closely following the anime TV show than the previous games did. In addition to that, Pokemon Yellow features the ability for your Pokemon to follow behind your character outside of its ball, as is the case with the show.

Introduction

Welcome to our Pokemon Yellow Wiki!

Pokemon Yellow was the fourth First Generation Pokemon Games that was released. Pokemon Yellow provided many updates from Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue (Green). This includes better graphics, updated Gym Leaders, and updated trainers. Pokemon Yellow is almost based completely off the Pokemon TV Series.

Release Dates:

Pokemon Yellow was released for the Gameboy.

Japan - September 12, 1998
United States - October 19, 1999
Europe - June 16, 2000

Pokemon Yellow is about your travels throughout the Kanto Region as a new trainer. Unlike Pokemon Red and Blue, and much like the Pokemon TV Series, you will get Pikachu as your starting Pokemon. It will not go into a Pokeball, rather it will follow you around outside it's Pokeball. Unlike any other Pokemon Game, Pokemon Yellow is the only game where you can obtain all three Starter Pokemon throughout the game. Your goals are to complete the Pokedex and train your Pokemon as you challenge the Pokemon Gyms. Throughout the game, you will be challenged by your Rival and the antagonist organization of the Kanto Region.

Your Rival remains the same from Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue (His real name is Blue). Unlike Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue, your Rival will also not have a Starter Pokemon. Instead, he will have an Eevee. Your Rival is set on becoming the best trainer ever, and that includes being better than you.

The antagonist organization remains the same from Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue: Team Rocket. In Pokemon Yellow, however, you will mainly face Jesse and James of Team Rocket. This is just like the Pokemon TV Series. Team Rocket is set on controlling the world, and they don't care what they must do in order to do so. It is up to you to stop them.
