Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver have been remaked and remastered from Gold and Silver versions 10 years before it. But does it have enough improvements to warrant a seasoned fan to come back and play it again? I will be critiquing it to try and find our answer.
The Graphics have been well improved from 10 years ago, obviously, as video gaming keeps on growing. The HeartGold and Soul Silver graphics are superior to Pokemon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum. The idea of walking your Pokemon around is very good. Sound is next.
The Sounds are decent, and have been changed around a bit and sound better than Gold and Silver. But if you prefer the old music, there is an option to change to the old music which you unlock in the Kanto region. But they aren't groundbreaking sounds and is one of the weaker points in the game.
The Gameplay is excellent, with two regions and 16 Badges to collect. The Pokeathlon has been introduced with great success, with lots of games to play and great replay and multiplayer values. This will keep you playing if you need a break from the main storyline.
The Johto region is a very good length, which will take a while to complete. But the Kanto region is a bit short and too easy just to go city to city. The Pokeathlon will keep you playing again and again to get all the records and get all the trophies.
Overall, this game has enough new features to keep a seasoned fan happy or a newbie to the Pokemon series pleased. The game shines in it's gameplay and graphics and it has decent Lastability and Sound. Overall, I would highly recommend this Pokemon title.
